Sorry if it's been posted before:

Guns and Doctors

Doctors: (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000. (B)
Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000. (C) Accidental
deaths per physician is 0.171. Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health
Human Services.

Guns: (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is
80 million. (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age
groups. is 1,500. (C) The number of accidental deaths pre gun owner is
0.000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than
gun owners.

Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

Fact: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

PS. I have very little faith in doctors since my old family GP died many years ago. This is a tad worrying as I get older. Roll Eyes

Just kidding, it's very true. Most of the time, patients die because of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. For example, many doctors will prescribe an antibiotic if you have a cold, why I don't know !

Yeah, its been posted before.

Its a falisfied truth. The statistic is technically true, but otherwise useless.

Another one i know of:
Want to aviod the pain of divorce, well sources prove that 100% of divorces start with marriage, so don't get married.

The obvious misuse of statistics is the reason this posting is in the "JOKES" forum.

Of course, the corollary to this would be "Don't Let Your Children Die! Abort them first!"

yea, and you got to also figure, that when a person goes to see a docture, they are usally sic, and might have a life threatening illness to begin with.

wouldn't it be wonderful if we could pay a doctor only if and when we were cured?...... maybe doctors are mainly there to inspire hope. only one thing thats stranger....weathermen, who lie for a living....cheers.

actually they are taught to use psych reasoning to convince you sometimes that the prescrip they hand out or procedure done was the magic bullet... especially pain mgnt and rehab med docs practice that since they get tired of hearing about pain and woes...

every time you go in they analyze your behavior, the way you walked in, etc... to determine how "ill" you are and their opinion is written in private files that are passed on to other MD's if they suspect a chronic seeker Undecided
