I am proposing an idea that can benefit those who build car models [other than me].
Now that the cars are starting to roll into FS territory, I believe it is best that we now concentrate on building a number of road systems that exist beyond the confines of the FS airports. I am growing tired of either riding on the runway [being tailgated by a 747
] or feeling the bumpy dirt of the default scenery roads [I haven't even made the Jeep or the Hummer yet].
It's about time we take the next small step.
We should use the taxiways [of either FSSC or AFCAD] as roads [as a start at least]. It should be manageble since you can just make an aerial screenshot of the scenery and using it as a template in FSSC [but I'm not sure about AFCAD] so that you can line up the roads better and then positioning that road system in FS after exporting.
It may sound simple, but I'm aware that it gets complicated than that since a single city can have many roads. As a start, we shoud just concentrate on making the major roads [highways, major streets and major avenues].
Then comes the hard part. How can we make a taxiway [a.k.a. Road] go over a simple hill without either leveling it or slicing through it? And can the elevation of a section of road be altered to compensate for the changing elevations of the scenery?
Some of us should start on this because when more car addons from any developer comes around in the FS world, would an airport be any good for cars? If the car were a "Follow-Me" or if it were a plane-tower, then obviousely yes. But what about other types? The Jeeps, Hummers, Dune Buggies, and ATVs wouldn't mind riding on dirt or sand.
Any other motivative ideas?
