Quote:But then again I am running the "roads" package along with the FS Genesis terrain mesh and landclass for all of America........ so I don't know WHAT it would look like with the default terrain mesh. Might be that with the default mesh..... rivers and railroads and roads and powerlines are "off" relative to Microsoft's placement of underlying terrain features... which itself is WAY off in many, many places. When I installed the FSGenesis mesh... I was amazed at how far off places that I knew well were in the default mesh.
I`m presently running FSG mesh and landclass.
I bought the AD stand alone program for the streams, RR and power lines (I have US Roads) but was very disapointed.
First off the railroad placements seem to be very accurate. However there seems to be gaps in the data where stetches of RR are missing.
Then there are reports on the FSG fourm about how inaccurate the AD Roads power lines are compared to the default.
There is a a river/stream (Wallkill River) that litteraly wraps around my home airport (KMGJ-Montgomery,NY) which MS got pretty accurate. The airport is also very accurately placed in relation to the surrounding roads which "US Roads" depicts.
The AD program not ony got the river almost a mile off in places, there are huge gaps and obvious, serious misalingments of the misplaced sections of the river.
There is obviously bad/corrupted data here.
So, I can only use the railroad portion of the program.
It should be pointed out that AD Roads is using cheaper/ more inacurate data than Flight1 US Roads.
It seems to be a clear case of you get what you pay for.
Now I'm sure that there are many areas that the data is pretty accurate and many are very happy with the AD products placement of steams, etc.
However, for me personally I found it mostly useless in my particular area due to the inacurate data.
Finally the main purpose of my complaints and observations is to assure those who already have US Roads that they did not make a bad choice!
