Some of you may know that I'm a hockeynut.
I play at a competitive level and also coach a midget team. Well today my "midgets" were invited to play during the intermission between the 1st and 2nd periods of a game in the Swedish Elite league (SEL)
I did get plenty of shots, and here are some of them.
The game is between two teams in the Swedish Elite League, my hometown Frölunda Indians are hosting Timrå Red Eagles. Plenty of NHLers on the ice. Most noticeable are Miika Kirpusoff of the Calgary Flames, and recent Stanley Cup winner Fredrik Modin (Tampa Bay)...both of them plays for Timrå. The arena was sold out, meaning some 12.000 people. Unfortunatly Timrå escaped with a 3-2 vicroty in overtime
Here are the pics.
This is the venue: Scandinavium. Sweden's 2nd largest arena with a capacity of 12.044 (hockey events)
Frölunda's leading scorer Martin Plüss (red jersey) faces off against Yared Hagos (white jersey) of Timrå.
Timrå is creating pressure in the Indians zone. In goal for Indians is Sweden's sharpest goalie at the moment, Henrik Lundkvist.
Backplate of Christian Bäckman, a steady defenseman, who is playing with St. Louis Blues in the NHL, but due to the lock-out he has returned home to his old swedish team
Another shot of the Indian's goalie. This guy is headed for New York to play with the Rangers in the next season or so.
And last but not least, this is my boys. Mölndal Hockey Stars, 96-team. it was awfully hard to get good shots because of the reduced lighting in the intermission but here they are anyway.
Two ex-teammates of mine are also playing for the Indians, I was either meant to be a hockey pro or a pilot, I have chosen the latter 8)
