jonnytime,

Hi and welcome to SimV.

Just wanted to take a moment here and mention that SimV is not a place that supports "cracks" of programs in any way, shape or form.  Software piracy is not condoned by this site.  Unfortunately, that particular "crack" word has some very negative connotations........ that all point to illegal activity.

SO........ I am assuming here that maybe you are looking for a "patch" file of some sort?  What is it you want to do?

best,

.....................john

Word of warning:  Talk of piracy is not looked favorably upon here.

Do you mean the No-CD patch?

Bear in mind that this one does not allow illegal copying.

Hi all.

The No CD file here at the Simviation Library will work fine when applied after the FS9.1 update from Microsoft.

I have challenged other simmers to provide proof that this No CD file will cause a loss of functionality in the sim ( as Microsoft claims ). No one has given me such proof.

As far as addons found incompatible with the No CD file?  The newest version of Active Camera 2.0 ( for fs9.1 ) will cause the sim to crash when using the No CD file. There is no fix for this unless the programmers of Active Camera change their code to allow for the No CD users. The last contact I had with Active Camera indicated the program would not be changed to work with any No CD file usage.  I suspect they'll lose some customers.

FSUIPC 3.40 works fine with any version of No CD and FS9 or FS9.1

Heya JohnnyTime,

To install the No CD-Patch all that you have to do is:

Download the Patch from the link that Ozzy supplied you above.  Unzip it into a temporary folder in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 2004 directory.

Using Windows Explorer Open your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 2004 and look for a file in here called FS9.exe.  Change the name of this file to FS9(Old).Bak (or whatever).  Open the temporary folder that you unzipped the No-CD Patch into.  Cut and Paste the file called FS9.exe from the temporary folder up one level into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 2004 directory.

Delete the temporary folder that you unzipped the No-CD Patch into.

That's it!!

Now I've been running some tests on the old No-CD patch and running it with the FS 2004 9.1 upgrade.  Overall I agree with Rhumbaflappy about there not being much difference in versions.  In my machine, however, I'm getting about 5-7 more FPS with the 9.1 upgrade.  That's why I'm not using the old No-CD Patch until a new one comes out.

If you're not worried about framerates then go ahead and install the old No-CD Patch.

Hi all.

There is a version of the No CD file, available at gamecopyworld, that apparently DOES work with the new ActiveCamera 2.0. This has been reproted to me... I don't own Active Camera, so I can't verify this. This is great news for ActiveCamera users, and supports the claim that this version of the NoCD file is the one to have for FS9.1

It is the "vengence" file ( vng-fs91.rar ).

I have used this version for a few days, with no bad effects.

Save your FS9.EXE file as FS9.EXE.UPDATE
Copy the NoCD file as FS9.EXE to your main FS9 folder.
Enjoy using your CDrom as something other than an expensive copy-protection-dongle.  Smiley

Many thanks to Simviation for allowing discussion of this topic. The other forums have a problem with it, and have actually deleted posts conveying this info to simmers.

Perhaps, Simviation can host the file, as they have the original NoCD, once we can further verify it works with Active Camera 2.0's update.

Dick,

I just did a Google search on that filename and got about 125 hits... all in french, all on the same site, and all (well.... I probably clicked on only about 40 of them  Wink ) linking to pages that say "not found".  I also went to gamecopyworld and did a search there and did not find it listed.

Wondering if it has been taken down?

best,

.................john

Hi John.

I think it's there under October 14.

It's probably getting a lot of web hits, and there's always the internet "spoilers" to deal with...
