Member Fli_girl has been banned.
Believe me this was no innocent genuine girl. He/she was a troll who wanted lots of attention. The picture was a scan from a cheap UK porno newspaper - The Daily Sport. (though it could have come from anywhere & don't bother visiting the website - it's big time full of trojans & mega popups
)
We had been monitoring this situation for overa week & doing some research. Unfortunately some members reacted too quickly & we have lost at least 2
- 1 - Rollerball (Roger Mole) was a Major contributor to FS in general - creating among others the wonderful Hong Kong Kai Tek airport scenery. Rollerball could see what was going on here - some who slated him could not.

My my, well it would appear we've been duped.
I'm getting extremely fed up with these trolls.
Blackbirds militia idea is sounding mighty fine right about now.
Sadly, in the end, we lost two great individuals to this flapdoodle.
Hopefully they'll return soon.

Surprisingly SIMviation has very few troll issues, which is a nice thing compared to several boards I go to.
Want to see what trolls are like go to

and search the plethora of gaming forums. Its rediculous lol.

A few of us will remember that we've been here before regarding "Trolls".
After studying the Photo and reading the very long-winded and highly detailed post by XXX_XXXX, I very soon came to the conclusion that this person had all the hall-marks of the typical Troll inviting attention, which we have experienced in the past, for the same reasons.
I was sorely tempted to suggest this may be the case, but having had my hands slapped before for generating posts which are frowned upon by Members, etc, I thought better of it and refrained from replying.
Which is the reason why you don't see very much of me nowadays in the Discussion Forums...

Of course !!
It wasn't you I was thinking of at all - ..... Your post in fact gave us the opportunity to tell the whole funny story
Your post was how we mods were all thinking at the start of this ... & as far as I know you didn't slate Rollerball -
At the end of the day it's a small storm in a teacup - barely anyone will have noticed all this & it's time to move on 8)

You have no IDEA of how glad I am that i stayed out of this mess. But now I gotta say a couple of things.
We lost Stormtropper and Rollerball, two members which I will deeply miss. I really hope they will come back
Mods should take a lesson out of this aswell. I can't believe how they came to "fli-girls" protection like puppies and turned their backs on a LOYAL member like Rollerball. That's unbelievable and should not happen at all
Ender's lack of should I call it "professionalism" was obvious. He let his personal feelings intervene and misused his "powers".
The ciritizism is harsh - I'm aware of that...but you should know me by now, that I'm always straight forward.
Mods screw up this time, and it costed the SimV community dearly
Wherever you are Storm and Rollerball, please consider the idea of coming back.

Nexus, you don't think we feel for Roger and Stormtrooper? I think you are a bit off base here in saying "This time the Mods screwed up". I actually think that you as many members have NO IDEA how much was going on behind the scenes trying to figure out how to handle this delicate situation!
This shot is taken from the "Admin Forum". As you can see, The Fli-Girl" issue was of utmost importance. Remember, this thread did not start because of the validity of Linda, "AkA Fli-Girl", it started because one of our members "manipulated" Fli-Girl's Signature picture. It did not matter if it was a male or female! These are things you do not do at this site! The first 3 pages were dedicated to finding out who did this. And as all of you know, it takes allot of posts to acquire 10 pages!
For those of you who thought we were "not taking immediate actions", I hope you realize we were doing all we could. It isn't that easy to make decisions when you are dealing with somebody who isn't them self to begin with. Where do you draw the line? We are all what we post and we make the best judgments we can. We are not "The Internet Police", we closed it all down pretty quickly!
I would say the other! "We were So on top of the situation that I think we were waiting to see if the above picture needed to be shown!" In the end our decision was handled as best as could be now seeing that Fli-Girl was not who He/She claimed to be. IMHO!!
We only "got" the proof that Fli-Girl was not Fli-Girl on Tuesday. What did you want us to do, slap a shot of her and her breasts right up in the Café? I Think Not!
It was when members started figuring out for themselves that our cute little Linda was maybe a Troll. The threads flamed quicker than I have ever seen and I locked 2 of them and deleted one as soon as I saw what was happening.
So for anybody to think that we were sitting back and doing nothing, you are dead wrong!! In fact, the time we all volunteer here to "over see" what goes on here was put to the test last night! If you think that it is all fun and games here doing this, you are dead wrong!! If Roger and Stormtropper were so overcome by the 20 minutes that all hell broke lose last night, then so be it. I speak for all of us Mods who volunteer our time to help make this place run smooth, We too are saddened by the lose of a real valuable member. This "Family" is now down a real valuable and knowledgeable member who was always willing to help out! So before any of you go pointing fingers, realize we are human just like you and do not have crystal balls.
We were on top of it, dealt with it and got rid of the problem. It is just ashame that a Troll took a few members with it!

It's not that we came to her protection simply because he was acting like a girl. He hadn't done anything to cause a commotion and as far as we knew, was a perfectly legitimate member. We had our doubts, but there was no proof. When the whole thing flared up, we tried to curb it, but it got out of hand with incredible speed. Remember, this is Thursday and Tuesday, no one knew anything about it. We had no choice but to attempt to protect a person who possibly had done nothing more wrong than post a fake photo. Other than those suspicions, this whole thing rather came from left field.

Secondly, this obsession with guns cannot be healthy, even for a moderator. I would suggest Ritalin.

Nexus,
Hummmmmmm......... well....... with all due respect...... gotta' say something here:
I sat here on the forum last night for many, many hours monitoring the developing situation. I am a mod only of the "Homebuild Cockpits" forum... so I can't do stuff like "lock" threads in other places. But I
can
send PM's and I can alert Pete and the other mods and such. I spent HOURS last night doing just that stuff in attempting to avert the mess flaring out of all reason. Which it was doing.
Please keep in mind that using a false picture purportedly of "yourself" is, in and of itself,
not
a "capital offense". For some time..... for all anyone knew...... AKA Fli-Girl might have been a highly sensitive and lonely person .... possibly even an ill person...... who was "bolstering" themselves behind an avatar.
It would have been totally irresponsible of us to "turn" on her instantly when some questions began to come up... until we could do some serious research and acertain if certain allegations were in fact the truth.
Before we did anything that would have been directly "negative" in "her" case...... we
HAD
to be sure we were on solid ground.
Research happened. Communications ensued with multiple parties... including him/her. If you look at the Admin Board image above you'll see
765
distinct viewings on just that subject.
The significant "damage" happened in a matter of a few hours. It was a wildfire. By the time hoses could be gotten in place....... a bunch of acerage had burned.
The one thing that I hope ALL of us can agree on easily is that
TROLLS are a sub-human life form!
respectfully,
...................john

I was a little suspicous of Fly_Girl myself.
After a while, I looked at the picture a little more closely, and I noticed how big... well, you get the point. I also noticed that after a week or two, the bottom of the picture was lowered more to show more cleavage. That's when I really started to wonder.
Not only was it the picture, but it was how she was acting so innocent and cute. She acted like a real(excuse me for saying this and if anyone has a problem with it, I'm not trying to be rude, sorry) ditz. Honestly, I'm not very suprised at all. Kudos to the mods. for realizing it and getting rid of them, even if someone thinks it took too long.
BTW, and I'm sorry for asking, I'm confused (if this is a sensitive subject, feel free to not respong). Why exactly did Rollerball and Stormtrooper leave? I too will miss them and their contributions for the SimViation and FS community.

Rollerball did not leave because Fli-Girl was a conman. He left because mods treated him like crap, he was mistreated by the ones he looked upon as friends, not because of some dumb internet troll.
He was a renowned user who actually KNOWS something here, and contributes on a regular basis.
I wold not call that "be on top of things".
He called the scam and you were on him like vultures, but you now say you actually knew he was right?
Interesting, though abit contradicting I must say, since it was a moderator who "slated" him the worst.

B777,
Not to drag this out too much ........ since I expect this whole thread likely will be deleted very soon.... it is all basically "dirty laundry".....and it is close to time to throw it in the washer.
Why? At the core..... because some idiot decided it would be "fun" to play the troll bit...... and screw up some people's friendships and a comfortable place to hang out.

Nexus,
Actually...... we still do not
know
all of the details and truth. Likely we will never
know
. Knowing is a difficult thing. Suspecting is very easy.
But it was only shortly before the "wildfire" that we had finally amassed enough information and evidence that we were certain enough to take really firm action.
Some concrete and highly "to the point" action was taken directly and privately with Fli-Girl immediately before this unfortunate siutiation went "bad" out on the public forum.
This is all that I will say on this because it is all that I feel is appropriate. I am sorry that you feel that this was not handled in the manner you might wish. Maybe you should PM Pete about it.

You protected the wrong guy.
You protected the scammer to the last minute, but did not hestitate to bash Rollerball.
Is that what you get when being honest and straightforward ???
Because that's what happened here. Roller said what most of you suspected, you cannot deny that.
But what did he get for that?
He got whipped, that's what happened...and thats's why I am sad and upset.

Hey Nexus, I think it's time to let it drop... I understand that you're upset about what happened and I agree that losing Roger and Stormtropper is bad, but it is over and time to move on. Hopefully, those members will choose to return, but I don't think that arguing back and forth like this is really good for anyone. Please rest assured that every mod on this board is playing the situation over and over in his head to see what their part in this was and learning from it to ensure it doesn't happen again.

John, I said to Pete that I'm fearful of the damage that this has caused to the forum and your comment makes me think I was right. What you are talking about is censorship. It's a slippery road as any politician knows who starts doing it and already too many postings and threads about this have been deleted 'for the good of the forum'.
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Well I happen to think that despite recent events these forums are a stronger and better place than that.
Dave, I have the greatest respect for you but I know that the Mods knew something was going on for over a week - and were having some fun. I hear what you say, but what of the 2 Mods who were directly involved? Not a peep from them, not a word of apology.
The mark of a true man is that his character is bigger than his own ego.
Being a Mod is a thankless task, we know that, but when you agree to become one you take on certain responsibilities. In the time of crisis these two guys were found badly wanting and if I were them I would be thinking about my own position. But I'm not.
CraigL, Nexus, jordonj and everyone else who has voiced their support, I am truly grateful and deeply touched. It's nice to know that I do have true and loyal friends here on the forums. Deep down I always knew there were even though I've been shaken by what's happened.
But now let's put this to bed and move on. Flight simming is what's important to all of us so let's get back to doing it. I think that these forums have learned much from these experiences and will come out of them even stronger and better so no more breast beating, criticism and witch hunts.

Well I don't know what to say....
I thought the wretch was a true person. I can't believe how cunning this person really was, I know trolls are cunning - but I was completely taken on board. He/she carried me all the way - dumb idiot I am. I'm being more careful in the future anyway.
Rollerball, Stormtrooper - Please come back and stay. Otherwise this wretch will have suceeded in doing what they intended. Don't let them have any more sucess.
I'm sure you won't and I'm sure we'll all be the more wiser and the more careful in the future.

Roger, thank you posting. Hopefully as time passes, you will land your plane back in this hanger!
Something I still think needs clarification here! First, nobody teaches you how to become a Mod. I think Savas does a damn good job for modding a couple of months now, he stays v. neutral, welcomes new members and is always willing to help out. He also only mods a few forums in which we need to cover for time zone issues thus having help 24/7 coverage. Ender was put in an uncomfortable situation. He is brand new at this and yes, he voiced his opinion but that comes with learning the ropes. My first week I was still voicing My opinion only to be slapped on the wrist by Pete telling me that, "As a Mod, you always need to remain neutral". That is one of the thing you give up when becoming a Mod, you have to bite your lip and stay neutral. It was Enders first day and he was just acting accordingly. Remaining neutral is something that COMES WITH TIME and EXPERIENCE!
Also, us Mods have no set time to be here. We all volunteer. Pete's rule is "Come and go as you please and always remember to have fun, if you see something happening, act accordingly". So for people to be saying things about not watching a thread, did you check to see if any of us were even logged? My main sessions are Monday thru Friday 9 to 5. I have a separate PC & Monitor on my desk dedicated to the forums. When I come home I will check in but that is when I am with my family and at night I like to get some stick time. By the time I logged on at 8pm Wednesday night, Ender & Savas were also on. Yes Ender voiced a bit of opinion, but I think he was just trying to get used to his new position. He didn't realize that in a situation like this, just lock the thread. I think you all expected him to just rise to the occasion but like I said, it takes time to learn how to act as a Mod in this place. As you can see, one slip up and it seems that all who support everything we do, are ready to burn us at the stake. I am not saying everybody, but from some of the feedback, I would say I am a bit surprised.
I think many think we knew everything that was happening and we wanted to watch this play out like a soap opera. Please, that is the last thing we wanted because as you can see, this is what winds up happening!!
Roger, I fully understand your point also. Your wisdom here runs deep and to have a "Newbie Mod" voicing his opinions on you about some little newbie girl, I saw your frustration mount, mine would too! I hope you know that this community fully supports you and your work and I hope you do return. Remember, the issue at hand lasted a1/2 hour and will only be remembered by a few who were logged. I want you to know that I and all here support you and I am sorry I was not logged at the time the fires started. I have always had utmost respect for you, Doug, Fozzer and many of the others across the pond who make this place what it is. Please accept my and anybody else's apologies.
Stormtropper, I do not know what happened. You defended Fli-Girl then just said I am leaving. You too were a positive member to this place, sad to see you go! Both of you should reconsider because you are bigger people than to have something like this make you leave this community.

Here is somewhat of a "Time Line" again for those who think we were sitting on the pot the whole time!
1. For three weeks our new member Fli-Girl was just a normal newbie. Her sig shot was manipulated by somebody so the mods started a thread in the admin forum to start to converse about it. These conversations are not about marmalade bombs or drinking till we fall down, they are conversations about members, which Mod is going on vacation, messages from Pete, touchy topics. etc... So the "responsible" mods along with Pete tried finding out who possibly was "annoying" Linda. Be it male or female, it is not tolerated here! We all received Pm's from her saying it was OK and she appreciated the support.
2. Last week somebody contacts us and brings to light that the picture in Fli-Girls sig is a porn star and supplies a link and Pictures! Thus, our Fli-Girl thread starts to grow asking for proof and trying to find out what is really going on. Not that an image in a sig is offensive, but with all the "immature and aggressive" behavior by some members to wards Fli-Girl, we were trying to get to the bottom of it. Jeez, Fli-Girl post a picture and has a thread running three pages long in four hours!! Come on guys, this is not high school! It is an international Flight Sim Forum with many different ages and genders. Yes the Nice Shot posts were there, but some members were trying to get a rise out of her responses. She contacted a few of us saying that she had received a few PM's from somebody but did not want to say!
3. STILL, no reason to cause concern or alarms on the boards to anybody, nobody was doing anything wrong as of yet. Fli-Girl was playing nice so we just kept monitoring it. I say again, we are not going to slap a picture of a porn star up in the Café and say "Look, the real Fli-Girl Exposed"! We had no proof and we were still waiting for Pete to confirm IP Addresses, similarities, etc.. By doing just that we would be totally out of line and we would be jumping the gun.
JUST A NOTE, STILL NO MODS KNOW OF ANY WRONG DOING GOING ON AS SOME HAVE EXPRESSED!!
4. This Tuesday 10-12-2004, seems we get confirmation, not 100%, but it is pretty good that there is a real close similarity that Fli-Girls shot is A porn star!. OK, still not really a big deal. Why start any trouble. Members have pics of many different things in their sigs, so Fli-girl has a porn star. She never claimed it to be her. All Mods & Pete decided not to start a "Witch Hunt" because Fli-Girl had really done nothing wrong.
5. Wednesday morning Fli-Girl is called on her picture asking, "Why is there a picture of Nadine Jensen in Fli-Girls Sig". The Mod forum starts deliberating on now what to do. Other members start to see that Fli-Girl might not be Fli-Girl. After the Brad-Kimber incident, I can see why! Still, Fli-Girl has not responded to any accusations so why have any cause for alarm. We certainly have not heard from any of the members who left that there was some serious issue at hand!
6. As Wednesday moves on, a thread is started in The Café questioning Fli-Girls picture. Members start jumping on the bandwagon but the thread seems to be going along. Why "lock a Topic" where nothing really bad is going on. Hey, members are just asking Linda what she is about. I can see a few members a little peeved that she might be trying to fool us and I do note that some are for Fli-Girl, and some are against. Still, we have had disagreements before, but usually members do act maturely. It is now close to 5PM and I need to log off and go home. I do see anew post from Fli-Girl in the forum saying, "My Last Post" or something like that. Yes she does start defending herself and names Roger and some others. Now if she is legit, she has every right, but if she is a troll there is some explaining to do!! Now I could lock it but why, nobody is screaming yet!! I need to get home now so I log off! A message is posted in the Admin forum to keep an eye on the thread. Still nothing real bad is going on.
Still no reason to do anything, we don't know any more or any less than the day before!!

7. I get home from work, eat my diner, put my kids to bed and log back in at 8PM! At this point the thread has evolved into one of accusations and degrading comments. There is also a 2nd thread that is on fire, I do note that Ender, Savas & JBaymore are logged. Jbaymore has sent PM's out to all mods and parties involved to try to keep cool as he does not have administrative rights to the forum with the problem, and Savas is posting messages also. Ender says a few things but like I said before, don't expect somebody in a new position of authority to know exactly what to do. You know what, I bet you he does next time! Experience is the only way to "learn" this job.
8. I make a decision to lock 2 threads and delete one that had no right even being started but the damage had already been done. It was that quick. Within me leaving my office and logging back on 3 hours later, we had lost 2 valuable people.
9. Later that night, or morning that would be where Pete is, he logs on and deletes all threads involved. I too see no reason to keep them as they were a bit sad to read and it is best for this site and it's members not to have it sitting there in black and white.
So there you have it. You tell me where we all knew what was happening. Or, you tell me where you can find fault in why 2 members left! It all happened in 3 hours time as most topics that need to be guarded do! I think people should stop pointing fingers and just realize this simple fact, We can not baby sit everybody all of the time! If you want to join this forum, situations will arise! Things are said, trolls are registered, flame wars break out and people go their way. Hey as of last month I would have been the only one even logged to deal with the problem. I think Pete has put together a real good team and if people have problems, the best way to deal with it is just contact one of us!
I hope this sheds some light on how this all happened. Once again, truly sorry for what happened but it is time to move on and get back to the issue at hand, Flight Simming!
Now excuse me while I put my white coat back on and practice what I preach.................. BEING NEUTRAL and BITING MY LIP!
Thanks for your time and I hope you all understand. It is important that you know that the people who help out here to oversee the forums are doing the best they can. We have an image that needs to be one of maturity, knowledge and fun for all that visit this place!

Good documentation job, Dave... and thanks for taking the time to do that.
Roger,
It is a great loss to SimV that you are leaving. You
will
be missed. Your contributions to the sim community are great. I would hope that you would reconsider.... but that is a decision that you have to make to fit your values.
I am sorry that you feel that we did not handle things well. All I can say is that we did our best given the balancing act necessary. If anyones "reputation" could stand up here on SimV to
anything
a person like Fli_Girl could have said to or about you...... yours would certainly be.
I agree completely that "censorship" is a difficult and dangerous situation. That is why it is only undertaken as a "last resort" and why some "inflamatory" posts between members are left standing either for a while or forever.
Sometimes it is like being a doctor and making hard decisions...... you have to decide when to use chemotherapy ....and when to excise the cancer.
There is also an interesting "Internet Forum" phenomona at work here, I think. Responses to what is happening on the same topic in many parallel threads at the same time often ends up in a post in a
single
thread.
So sometimes something that is said is actually directed toward or based on the knowledge of what is developing in multiple places. So a comment that would be clear when put into the context of ALL the threads might not be read the same by someone who is only aware of the content in ONE thread. That, I think, can sometimes lead to misunderstandings.
Again I hope you'll reconsider. If not.... it has been my pleasure to know you over the time I have spent here.
Stormtrooper,
I was very impressed with your dignified response to any possible "indescretions" on your part. I am a 'student" of Japanese culture.... and I see your response as a bit akin to the samurai act of seppuku (ritual suicide).
What you basically did was apologize for any part you might have played in this mess, say that you could not "live" with the "loss of face",... and commit "virtual suicide"... by simply and quietly leaving and deleting your account.
No arguments. Just an apology for anything that you either did or might have done. Impressive.....and showed a lot of maturity.
You too are/were an important part of the SimV community, and we would hope that you would reconsider also.
The only one that we are THRILLED to see gone is Fli-Girl ....whomever he/she happens to be. May he/she rot in marmalade
. My guess is that an ongoing IP investigation will eventually lead to a postive ID.
best,
...................john

You don't come to the forums for 24 hours and look what happens! I missed the flame war of the year! Any chance of the minutes? It sounds like a potentially good read.
P.s. How big is the topic on me in that little moderator cupboard of yours?

Since I was one of the ones who defended this moron, I just want to throw my two into the mix.
Here's how it went down from a non-mod point of view. Member has a pic. Seems harmless enough. Member is attacked for said pic and accused of being a porn star. No evidence is presented to back this up.
Now, with that scenario playing out, it's my nature to defend the attacked. Had someone (anyone) said "Look, there's a photo that proves this", I would have immediately said "Okay, then something should be done" and let it go.
But by their own admission, the mods let this brew for how long while letting the membership make complete fools of themselves? All they would have had to do was lock any thread immediately that dealt with this subject, and a lot of humililation could have been avoided.
I consider many of the mods friends, but I've gotta be honest and say that I think the ball was dropped here. Ten pages of discussion when all they really had to do is start locking the threads while they investigated.
And before anyone says "Imagine what that would have made Fli_Girl feel like if she were real!" It's only going to piss me off if I'm a troll. If I feel its being done to protect me from attacks, and its explained as such, I'm going to be very appreciative.
Great edit, Bob.&&&&&&Google it. &&&&

Here.
I'll put an end to some of this sh#t.
First off: Roger. I'm sorry. I didn't have enough information to be denouncing anyone's point of view at that time. When I posted I was not a mod; only made it after the 'incident'. I was taken in by a pretty face (be it real or not) and innocent words. I felt I had to defend someone who couldn't defend themselves well, so I jumped in and put my foot and mouth where they didn't belong. Those aren't good excuses, but they're all I've got.
Second: I am resigning as a mod as of now. I'll still be here, but it seems the concensus of the major players at SimV is that someone in the mod section screwed up big time and as the new guy (and the one mod who really did F it all up) I feel like I am that someone. Sorry I didn't hold up to everyone's (especially Pete's) expectations.

I would like to say we are only human, and until the last day or so, things were relatively calm, and while we tried to find the truth, which is something we as mods and admin, should do for all members, even if suspicions of being a troll are making its ugly face known.
T here are no forums that are immune to these kind of problems, and luckily SIMviation has been the most easy going problem free forum that I have had the pleasure of being a member of. There are many people that have a wealth of information that they readily lend to those in need and are always extending a welcomed hand for those new to the site. So many times I have gone to a forum that has a sopecific subject and posted a "hello" type of thread with bits and pieces of in need of help, only to be ignored completely. I never did get that hereand since day one, I have met many many virtual friends with a similar passion in the area of flight simming. This site is one of a kind.
Roger, I sent you a message that I hope you get the chance to read. My neglecting to say anything to the troll about what she said about you and anyone else she mentioned is my own fault and i accept that, and ask forgiveness, for you like me are human. I had a lot going on that evening, and just so happened to check the forums, only to find a boiling cauldron.
To everyone, that visits here, rest assured we were doing everything we could to ge to the bottom of what was going on. Yes there were probably some things we could have done better, but as a whole, with what resources we had, and the fact that we could not be face to face across the globe to discuss everything before everything broke loose, I personally think that we did the job we thought was best, unfortunately before we could come up with a decision, and have pete give the go ahead, things went south, and from what Dave has said, they went south quickly.
I will say this, it has been a learning experience for me, and I am sure just about everyone involved be it a moderator or a valuable member of the community as well.

Whoa there! Don't be too hasty. Now that you have been through this, you now know better when this happens again. Many of us may well have done the same thing. And both you (and SaVas) did apologize.
So you make a mistake. That's part of being human....I
know
you're not the first one to be fooled (trust me on this one...)!
Remember, I was fooled as well. Now we all know not to be so quick to break out the torches and pitchforks.
I do agree with RollerBall...these forums are now stronger. I also think you were offered the job as moderator for a reason...
On an unrelated not, as a computer/network techincian, I can assure you. Investigating this sort of thing is no mean task. Fly2e's day in the life essay, should tell you something in and of itself.
The logs which the Mods had to go through have pages and pages of information. It's also a lot of work to sort it...the kind of work that takes time.
Bear this in mind before loading your marmalade-cannons...

I'll still be here, but it seems the concensus of the major players at SimV is that someone in the mod section screwed up big time and as the new guy (and the one mod who really did F it all up) I feel like I am that someone. Sorry I didn't hold up to everyone's (especially Pete's) expectations.
Ender, IMHO it is a mistake for you to resign as a mod so quickly. I feel that you are kind of a victim of bad timing and that you did nothing wrong. I too tried to stand up for the troll thinking they were a legmitate member-because they really hadn't done anything wrong (at the time) and seemed defenseless (call me nieve if you want). I don't think that you should feel like you need to resign. The comments you made were done before you became a mod and you had no idea that they might be held against you. Personally, I have been viewing this whole sequence of events (quietly) and it just seems like it was bad timing for everything that happened. Once again, I think you should reconsider before resigning-you are a valued member of this forum and I think you will be a great mod.

All right. I've realized that any change in the SimV system would be a victory for that damn troll . . .
I still feel, though, as if I fueled this flame, but that cannot be remedied, however hard I try to help.
So I will stay as a mod, and I will try to keep my opinions at a resonable level!
Happy Flying,
Travis

Phew - I was just about to write you a 'must stay note too'. The last thing we want is for anyone more to resign. The wretched guy would be still achieving his evil ends, wow - He's even got a mod out! Imagine!
Everyone makes mistakes, you did your best for the good of the community as did everyone else. We're all sorry for our wrongs and apolagised for those of us who stuck our foot in it. We're all in the same basket - and now its time to put this behind and try and get our former friends back.
Now, we've all learnt a great deal and we'll be all a tad wiser for the next troll that comes along. I can assure you it won't be long. This makes two we've had this year alone.
Anyway - we've all shaken hands and are friends.
Cheers
Ben

Hi all,
I've tried to put a bit of space between me and the forums for a coupla days to try to get some perspective back. It's not easy to be objective when the wounds are still so fresh so I've tried to let things ride for a bit.
Savas and Ender, thanks for what you've said in this thread and after reading your PM, especially to you Stephen. After reading what you said I must apologise in public for words I wrote in private. I'll say no more because you know what I'm talking about but I believe I misjudged you and I'm sorry.
I don't know what the opposite of triumphal is, but that's how I feel right now. I had no desire to be part of what is probably one of the most painful and divisive experiences that these forums have ever been through and I don't feel particularly proud of myself. Quite the opposite in fact.
It would be childish and stupid for me not to return to the forums after all the knd words and support that I've received from other members. It's a bit embarrassing and I don't feel that I really deserve it but let me say just how grateful I am.
And it's also important that Jeff does as well. Unlike me he's a young guy with a lot less of experience of life and it's totally unfair that he should pay such a huge price for such a minor indiscretion.
Jeff, if you're reading this it is IMPORTANT that you come back. I know you have MANY friends on these forums who have been batting for you while you've been away. You'd be letting them down if you stayed away and now it's time to return.
So now we must move on. There's no point keep poking over the ashes of this business. We've all learned and grown as a result of this experience, me included very much so. It's run it's course and I for one am glad that it has.
I don't know what other people think but I reckon this would be a good time to lock this thread and consign it to history.

I agree. Lets lock this now.
The only one who can do that is Pete because He is the
only one
with Administrative rights to this forum.
Ironic how this ended up here. As You all can see, none of us are Mods, just one community of friends trying work things out!
Pete,
