Nothing I could do, I had to shut down #3, so we were down one engine, and engines 1 and 2 were on their last leg...Things were not looking good for the old lady, or us.

...

Within minutes my copilot notified Seattle-Tacoma that things were dire and we would not make it to Seattle as our altitude was dropping fast. They notified us of a fire clearing near a small airstrip called Emma

...

Down to one engine, I began the shut off procedures for the last remaining engine. Gear was jammed, hydraulics were out, it was a mess. One of the locals, a guy named Fritz and another fella named Dave took these next shots, and as you can see, it wasn't pretty.

...

Coasting in #4 was idling down. Maybe we would do a soft landing with minimum damage, though I knew the undercarriage would need extensive work if that would even be possible

...

We were down, alive, and skidding to a stop, dust kicked up behind us.

...

Whew. Maybe she would be salvagable after all.

...

The end

---Stephen

PS Still learning the imaging software, but I am making progress Grin

Great story Stephen, and the pics were splendid to booth  Smiley

Any ideas of what the glideratio is on one of those fellas? The form drag is pretty heavy with the 3 props just hanging there, so I assume it's not that much  ???

She came down like a lead balloon initially, but levelled off pretty well at the end

Did you feather the props? Might have improved the glide ratio at least a bit.
