OK first off these screen shots do not give the justice FS-GS deserves. I had to buy new imaging software called ACDSee as Irfanview was not able to compress the images enough without destroying any detail, so bear with me. I am still figuring out ACDsee so some of these shots might look a little fuzzy. I had a difficult time trying to get images under 100b. When I was using Irfanview before the system unification my shots averaged 50 to 90K. After system unification the detail was so great that they were 200 to 450kb at 800 x 600

What I want you to concentrate on is the distance the sim will render when close up to the plane. The further away from the plane you are, the more the ground and cloud textures will render. its when you get close to the plane that ground scenery begins to blur.

So...PMDG's 737-800 American Airlines out of Seattle-Tacoma, WA

...

You can even see Seattle in the background towards the middle right, and the buildings are still rendered with textures which are hard to see because of the compression and resolution loss

...

PMDG's 737-700 out of Anchorage, AK

...

...

...

And just an FYI. I am averaging 20-30 FPS (locked at 33). 20 being in areas like Seattle-Tacoma, maxed everything, all kinds of textures rendered, and absolutely NO stuttering, and I mean NONE. I cannot tell a difference between the low end of the FPS I am getting and the high end.

The sim runs smooth as melted butter

I'm not sure how this service really improves visual detail.  I mean...isn't it a performance service?  Many can achieve visual quality at the sims max allowable quality.

Am I making sense?

Its performance AND visual. Its really hard to describe without really seeing the before and after.

I will say that I did a test this afternoon. I slewed an aircraft to 75,000 feet, and was above the aircraft looking down. The whole aircraft was in the image and even at that 'altitude' I could see buildings and mesh detail like I was at 2000 feet, just they were a lot smaller.

Im going to try to look through my old screen shots and see if I can find some that would be a good before and after.

Thanks.

Still learning ACDSee, so here is a shot of probably one of my all time favorite payware aircraft.

Just to let everyone know my screenshots are probably going to be coming in onesies and twosies until I can figure out how to get the compression right with ACDSee without losing much detail or making the images look over-mipmapped, grainy, and for some reason, too sharp as someone pointed out earlier

The level of detail after shutdown is droolicious

...

I ask you all to pardon me while I make some pretty unartistic screenshots. Composition isn't something I am worrying about until I get the hang of this new imagine software Grin

---Stephen

PS Look for a couple of Payware reviews within the next few days  as I am a bit behind schedule Shocked

Yes I did, and I can now say that not only is 2004 a completely different sim now, visually, but it flies as though I have unlimited frame rates. Not only that but my computer is better than brand new. The things I learned about my PC that I will not go into, as, that is like giving away someone's trade secrets, gave me years of knowledge that I was clueless about initially. His guidance and patience with me being pretty much computer illiterate, will make me a lifelong customer.

He really is one of a kind, and sadly my screenshots can do NO justice what so ever for what he helped me accomplish.

Yes,I to have used Mike's service. It's not just the graphics that you notice.I for one, when we were done didn't really notice any difference in the graphics when in the game.I noticed a big difference in how the game ran.............."very fluid"........However after a couple of days,I started to notice little differences in the graphics while in the game...............Ahhhhhh but to me the biggest difference is in screen shots. For me,thats what I was after.........I don't fly the sim to fly.............I take sceen shots...................For me it has been the best money that so far I have invested in MSFS.......
Thanks Mike...................

Just want to put in  my two cents about FS-GS services. I just finished my system unification with Michael and it's like night and day for me. I had tried many things I had read on forums and in magazines and had the sim running and looking pretty good, though some things I tried really hurt me, including a recommendation that resulted in a crash which prevented my machine from booting at all, had to do a total reformat and reinstall everything. Anyway, now it is nothing short of amazing. All I can say is what Michael charges for his service is an incredible bargain - the best thing I have ever done for my flight simming! I can't believe how good it looks and flies. Thanks Michael!

Half way through my service with FS-GS and its lookin good so far  Grin The service so far has been great.  Everything gets explained to you as to how things work and things that you have wrong etc etc.  I cant wait until its finished.

I might even be able to install my Fairford airshow scenery with a higher detail level (Fingers crossed  Grin)
