Haha...
Yeah that plane used to be bare metal but they decided to paint it silver back in 1999. I personally think it looks better painted. The color is much more uniform.
You can't tell from this picture, but the paint is really in bad shape. The emblem on the side is eroding away rather severely. Unfortunately, word is around SWA that when it goes in to the shop for new paint, it will wear the regular "Spirit Blue" scheme.
Anyway, yeah that is the story behind my screen name. Back in late 1999 right after it changed to being painted, I travelled via Southwest and on my return leg home I was on "Silver One". It has been my screen name for just about everything (AIM, forums, etc) ever since. 8)

I saw that bird on my way home from florida while switching planes in new orleans. When I went to St Louis over the summer, I flew on California One!!!
