Of all the air show venues I've visited this season, Old Warden has to be my favourite. This place has something magical about it. If I lived closer I would spend a lot of time here. Add a little sunshine & it becomes Paradise for spectactors & photographers alike. It's almost impossible not to take good photos here. I can't think of anywhere else in Europe where you can see so many beautifully restored rare aircraft displayed in their element - where they belong.
You never know just what to expect until it happens. The programmes always bear this disclaimer: Any similarity between this programme and the programme on the day is unintentional and is pure coincidence.
PS. No apologies if I've posted some of these before. I think they're well worth a second look.

Ditto. Love the Hurri (can't believe it's been nearly 10 years since it flew after restoration - i'll see if I can dig out the pics I took at Duxford just before then!).
Its a bit strange seeing the Tutor flying and not being Yellow at the same time, but its a nice new scheme and with the Tomtit in formation...
And whats with the Deperdussin - I can't see any ground - the Shuttleworth pilots are getting braver...

Thanks Ben. They don't always come out dead centre, in fact most of my efforts are far from perfect. I crop them to look how I want them. I suspect most photographers do the same. It's called post-processing.

That Hurricane shot is one of my best efforts. It came out just how I wanted. I'll have a job improving on it.

The new Tutor colour scheme is striking. Too many yellow aircraft at Old Warden. I have a better shot if you haven't seen it.

This shot was taken on a perfect day. Everyone said it was the best-ever show at Old Warden. In fact I was lucky enough to see it fly twice on 2 consecutive weekends. Andy Sephton is fully recovered & in great form. The commentator said he'd been there for many years & never seen all the Edwardians fly before.

I noticed that at the June 6th show - it was one of the best displays of a Spitfire I've ever seen - rivalling the late great Mark Hanna in MH434 at Old Warden a year or two before his death. Shame I'm too young to have ever seen Neil Williams at Old Warden - apparently (according to my father) he was one of the best...

So Hagar, what kind of camera do you use? I use a Olympus C-740 Ultra Zoom.

My new one is a Fuji S5000. I've only had it a few weeks since Kemplen recommended it on this forum. All these shots were taken with it. From what I've seen yours is excellent quality.

OK. I'll risk posting it here to save a lot of messing about.

Neil Williams was one of my heroes along with Mark Hanna. They are sadly missed.

Thanks Tempest. Never mind me. My last efforts at Duxford were hopeless. I suppose I can't do much worse.
I'm expecting great things from you & Charlie. Let's hope the weather holds. I'm none too confident.

If my shots don't turn out my excuse will be that I was filming it all on video.

Eek, careful, this'll be the first camera I've had in my hands since the old Canon FTb died a couple of (well, 5) years ago (it was older than me - darn good camera though)!

I don't have faith in weather forecasts anymore - I'll go regardless. Escape from the house for a day...

I don't want your excuses. You both know the place far better than me. I still have to figure out the best place to take shots from. I picked the wrong spot last time. I find that most of these big venues are the same. They have a long straight crowd line & the first pass is the only chance you get for one of those nice top-shots. Last time I was at Duxford this was usually from the right, straight out of the sun which makes focussing difficult. You have to keep your eyes peeled & very often I see them coming before the commentator knows anything about it. That's why I like Old Warden so much as it's a perfect location for this type of photography.

I never did. They never get it right for this little strip where I live.
