A 9600xt with 256MB memory or 128MB memory, or if you can get hold of one a 9700, can both be got for under $150.
My system:
Intel Q6600@3.6GHz, Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2-6400 (4-4-4-12-1T) , Sapphire 7850 OC 2BG 920/5000, X-Fi Fatality, Corsair AX 750, 7 Pro x64

The 6600 is going to sell for $150 US while the 6600GT will sell for $200.
I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday.

Decent 6600 (e.g good brand ones not the "iffy" XFX brand ones) will cost $170-180
Probably worth adding a bit more cash to get one of those even if it means waiting for another month.
