I
HATE
spiders!! I see one, I make sure it's dead...otherwise I just cannot relax. If they are roaming free about the house, and not taken care of (COUGH killed) I guarantee it WILL find me and crawl all over me...bite me...or worse...wait...uh yeah

I'm talking about the six inch sized ones here, I had a pic somewhere of a really big one, but I can't find it at the moment.

Be careful when buying bananas
Too many times we had some nasty little things in the bananas. I personally came face to face with a banana spider(or whatever they are called) i know a few of my friends dealt with snakes and some very dangerous creatures in the stuff we had at the co-op.
With our summers becoming warmer and winters also being milder these stow aways are more likely to survive and breed, prob wont be long before these creatures become more common

Well, 19 000 of them are probablt microscopic or the near equivalent. I wouldn't need to feed my rat at all if there was that many in my house.

That looks about the same size as the spider that was living in our bathroom
...... I'd named it Henrietta and was feeding it, much to the wifes chagrin
... she hates them.
Alas and alack ..... Henrietta is no more
........ she was last seen legs waving from the mouth of one of the cats. I'm sure the wife put him up to it.
cheers

You should take a trip to Washington. We got plenty of slugs
That kind of looks like a Hobo Spider. Males come out to find a mate around the end of summer/early fall. I've seen a few even though they aren't that common in the Pacific NW.

A fun little test for all the spider haters.
Did you know that at any given time, anytime of the year a spider is within 3 feet of you??
Go ahead, look around!
I see at least two, but know there are more.
Here in TN we get a lot of creatures, spiders (and Black Widows!) scorpians, beetles of all kinds etc.
Another little known fact the Daddy Long Legs spider (uncertain its real name) is the most poisonous spider in the world!!!!! Yes the ones we as kids would pull the huge legs off from, thing is thier fangs are so soft that they can't break human skin, THANK GOD!

Quite a magnificent specimen.
Why? Leave it be or adopt it as a pet. I'm fond of spiders myself. They eat all those horrible insects. I would never deliberately kill one. My Mum told me if you kill a spider you make it rain.
So that's why it's always raining over your way...:_)

I love arachnids. Orb Weavers when they are around I feed them until they get big.
Here in Missouri, the one spider I am not fond of finding is the "Violin Spider" also more commonly known as the Brown Recluse. I have found this particular nasty spider in my home a fw times in the past 3 years.
Worst thing about them is their bite tends to cause necrosis of the skin around the bite that continues to spread, and often times becomes bad enough that amputation is necessary if not caught in time.
The one bug I cannot stand is the American Cockroach. I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE them

Well Nexus, anyone saving spiders the way you do it deserves my respect! I do it exactly the same way, though i don't really like those little beasts...
But hey, it's living and not threatning me, so it should stay alive...
