Hey all, perhaps a silly question, but it's driving me insane. For the last couple of days now, whenever I click on a file to download either here or over at AVsim, or anywhere else on internet explorer for that matter, instead of prompting me to save the file in a certail location, it just starts downloading the files to a temp location, then automatically opens them up. I don't want it to do this, and I'm not sure how to fix it. Help would be appreciated.

Heya Starseed--

I'm surprised that nobody has tried to assist you.  I think what may be happening is that you have another ZIP archive program defaulted to automatically open your *.zip files.

If you are running Windows XP:

You may want to check and see if you have WinZip installed.  Now this is a great program, however, if you're running Windows XP you don't need it.  Go to the Control Panel under Add or Remove Programs.  If WinZip is there then remove it.

Next go to one of your *.zip files and right-click it.  In the drop-down menu go to "Open With..." and left-click on "Compressed (Zipped) Folders".  From now on you should be prompted a choice to Open or to Save a *.zip file whenever you download something.

If you are not running Windows XP then we may need to try something else.

Thanks for the reply. I did what you said, and voila!! it works. Somehow my winzip had gotten configured to automatically open stuff from IE, instead of letting me save it. Thanks again for the info. I didn't know winzip was pretty much usless with XP.
