Hi Bapi. It's difficult to suggest anything without knowing more details. CFS1 runs happily on a very low-end system & if it ran OK when you installed it I suspect the problem is with an addon aircraft or campaign.

The "magic" fix for most CFS1 problems is an Uninstall/Install of the sim. I used to do this regularly to keep it running smoothly. You won't lose any addons but will need to reactivate any 3rd party scenery via the Scenery Library.

I hope this is some help.

This looked like a good place to jump in with a CFS1 QUIRK!!!!

I had a fine copy of CFS1 working with all my "standardized" WWI & WWII planes.

Then one day CFS.exe decided to start shutting down at: trigger pull, plane crash, replay button, close button
...etc.

So the only fix was to uninstall/reinstall.

So here comes the "QUIRK".

My current version of the cfs1 sim does not recognize or react to changes in the "airspeed indicator base" or "weight factor?" variables of the AIRED airfile program
flight dynamics section 1101.

My previous version did use these variables because i had fine-tuned all my aircraft for exact performance spec's.

This current SIM totally agnores changes to this numbers?

Does anybody have any idea why this is occuring???? ???

Well, I believe I found the QUIRK!!

It's in the CFG file and it allows or ignores those other airfile param's to activate.

Well that's how I've learned most all of it!!!

Thanks for all your help in the past and future!! Grin

This kind of brings me back to an unanswered inquiry in another post.
1 --     when I run the sim, the distance from one location to the next seems to be short of what it should be (maybe @1/2?). Am I not finding a keypunch or setting?

2 --      I have a mission that works when all aircraft are listed for rookie (level=0) but fails to operate should any be listed for veteran (level=1) or ace (level=2). I've had others that worked with such changes (level 1 or 2 planes only showed up when veteran/ace was selected; with the '0' they're always there).

I cannot help with the first problem but I have a good idea about the second one.

In the mission one of the units is listed in a formation after a more experienced unit.  By choosing 'rookie' the earlier unit does not get put in the formation but neither are the other ones.  This causes the mission to crash when loading.

What is the mission? Can you post it here?

Not ready for post yet -- I haven't finished with it: it's part of a set regarding an air battle involving a number of flights (the player is a member of a different flight in each); there were even conflicts in the original combat reports from the real battle so I'm now correcting, as best I can, the waypoints (if I don't get those right, they may not even meet, let alone do so in the proper sequence).
Nevertheless, your information is appreciated: since I was trying to place planes in their reported placement and referencing to the real pilots' reported combat records, skill levels were not in order. I hate playing around with flight placement figures. Another glitch for which we'll just have to compensate as best we can.

As an update, perchance someone else ever needs to know:
I didn't have the level listings matched in the individual "[units]" to those in the "formation" sections. In the latter, the 2nd, single, digit in the string is the 'level' of play.
