These images are actually here due to a discussion in the FS2004 forum....... but being payware... I had to put them here.

This is a graphic demonstration of the impact of the FSGenesis terrain meshes.

The first two shots are at the airport at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

...

...

The last shot is in the mountains outside of Seattle-Tacoma International airport.

Hope this hel;ps you make a decision if this stuff is worth it.

best,

This is the mesh I am considering:

FSGlobal2005

It looks pretty decent methinks, but the FSGenesis looks good. I just want a whole global package

Here is the main website url for FSGenesis:

http://portal.fsgenesis.net/

The store login is listed on the left side buttons.

The cost depends on what you want to install.  The entire east coast is about $10.  The whole west coast is about $10.  But if you buy 2 at the same time you get 10 percent off.... 3 gets 20 percent off.....4 gets 30 percent off...and so on.

They also have a "subscription" service that gets you everything they do.  Not sure how much that is.

Really high rez (10m) of the Grand Canyon or the Yellowstone area are each about $10.  They also have a few other areas in really high rez.

I have DSL and the largest download so far has taken about 1:45 at 768 K.  But they have them in broken up pieces as well as a full "installer".

Have to say that they do a GREAT job of maintianing thier customer records...... I originally bought the Eastern US mesh for fs2002 many years ago.  They STILL have me in their online system,.... and the updates to that stuff for fs2004 are free.

They just released a new landclass that sounds like it might fix a few things also.

Anyway........ hope this is of help.

best,

..................john

I use the freeware USA/Alaska DEM Mesh from here for my western seaboard of California for FS 2000/ FS 2002...>>>

http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainusa.htm.

So what is the difference between that and the payware mesh from FS Genesis...?

Cheers all... Grin...!

Paul.
