Jim,

I found thsi some timae ago but prefer to go the other way - McCarren to the far end.  Flying @ about 500kt is good, much faster and I find the scenery degrades on my machine !!  Of course if you turn left over the lake after leaving McCarren you can drop down the Hoover dam gorge and try and get back up again.

I have done it in a vulcan but it gets difficult in the narrow bits half way through !!

Know God ?  - John 3:16 a good place to start

I'll give it a try again with something big.  I used a P-40 and a Martin-Baker MB5.

Thanks for the reply,

Jim

Ahh well, the trick is NOT to crash !!!

@ 500kt it takes about an hour to get from one end to the other -  and a good bit of concentration, and no changing planes half way through at the twisty bits  8)

Once having got to the far end I returned in an EE lightning @ 1000kt + but I did cheat and flew just above the canyon -  this took about 30 min.

Could try it in a Tiger Moth, but this may take a week  Grin

I flew down there in my Fairey Delta 2 at about Mach 2 once. It was about 20 minutes before I ran out of canyon. And this wasn't flying just above it. This was following the river with throttle wide open and afterburners on. Grin Grin Grin
