Go here: http://zone.msn.com/en/flightsim98/article/fsimnicknamerequired?StopLoginReturnC...

Login/register then login.
It will d/l some msn gamezone stuff, then scroll down the list of the different flight sims and select:
Flight Simulator: A Century of Flight
Free flying

Then look around at the different hosted sessions, choose one that looks interesting, i also look out for ones that already have a few people in aswell.  Click Join, then a pop up will appear, click join on this.  Although sometimes this llatter option is not available, if you click info there should be an I.P.  Boot-up FS9 and go to multiplayer and type the I.P in and click join.  When joined set your weather to updated every 15 mins, as most people use this, and choose your aircraft.  However sometimes you don't start where everyone else starts, so check what airport you are supposed to be at by either looking in the info part that i mentioned earlier or press enter whilst in FS and type in ?help there are various commands that can be input to find information out.  The other way is to just type your question in and someone should be able to answer it for you.  You can talk to people using that feature.

Mr. Rayban,

Go into the Multiplayer setup screen in your fs2004 sim, and in the little box up at the upper right side type in the fiollowing string of numbers

66.147.177.125

Then click on "Search".

At the top of the large left hand box you should now see a line of text ending with a number in parentheses ........ something like (97ms).  The number reflects how "fast" the connection to the flight server is going....so it cen be most anything.

If after doing this you DON'T have that line showing there on the left.... you are not getting out on the internet.  So that will be the place to start looking at the issues preventing you from connecting.  Likely they are a firewall or router or cable modem or ISP problem.

If you DO get a line there..... go down to the bottom of the screen and click "join".  Shortly after that, the fs2004 chat window should pop up with information in it about how to fly on that FSHost server (WSPilots).

It is a free flight server most of the time.

Try this and let us know what happens.

I have always had issues with trying to connect via "The Zone"  Wink.

best,

.......................john

PS:  Oh...... don't be surprised if this thread gets moved by one of the mods to "Multiplayer" anyway  Wink.

@jbaymore:

i gave that IP above to a friend who likes simming the same way as i, i think his nick is "speedbird" or "speedbird_1", and he just told me he joined for a while, but didnīt see anyone in the game.....just heard the voices over Teamspeak, but none around.... Grin

i think he must have felt very, very lonesome up there Grin

but seriously: Did he do something wrong? i think heīll sign up here soon and post all his questions himself, but he will sleep much better if iīm telling him that shortly... Grin

You are welcome and no problem.

Hum....

I just flew there again tonight with about 6-7-8 others in mainly a free flight mode...... but we all headed to the same place.  Not sure why you didn't find anyone there tonite.  I'll have to check that I gave you the right IP number  ???

But like all flight servers...... sometime's there is no one around except you.... and sometimes it is crowded.

Tonight from about 10:15 PM to about 11:30 or so I did an ifr hop from KTPA (Tamps) to KJAX (Jacksonville) in real weather and time in the BAe 146-200 Fedex livery.  (When it absoultely, positively has to be there overnight!)   Bands of heavy rain and gusty winds on take off and descent. Flew above it at 20,000 on the main part of the trip.

On landing the first try, I didn't have visual on rwy 7 at decision height and had to call a go around.  Landed it on the second try about 15 minutes later.....but the gusty wind was a bear.  Bounced a couple of times  Wink.  But nothing too bad.  No FedEx insurance claims because of me this time  Wink.

Anyway... glad you liked the site.  I find it a great place to fly.  I am working my way thru the "hop list" slowly too.

Can't wait to get my simpit functional and be able to fly online using it.  That will up the realism factor a lot.

best,
