Well, sorry mr Gates and co for any nasty things I may have said about your software in the past. All is forgiven. I bought 2004 today and have just flown IFR from Auckland international ( that's in New Zealand ) to Hamilton via Westpoint NDB in the Baron 58. I could not believe how good this sim is. It's so realistic in the way it picked up the 12 mile arc for the VOR DME 36 at Hamilton. Adding 1% of my ground speed in miles to set my turn on point dropped me right onto the arc and then I watched the DME and ground speed bobble around just as it does in the plane. Man, the only thing this programme won't do is let you get out and take a pee at the terminal! It's a really cool tool.

As you get into it and start clocking your flying hours, you will want more, and more and more.........for realism. Read, if you haven't already done so the topic on what we want from '2006' and you will see what I mean. Welcome aboard and remember 'keep the blue side up'!

Perhaps that can be added on in the next version of FS.

If you are flying in the ocean then you would be a submarine...

G'day abs. Yep, this is a cool toy but it's also good enough to be a tool. For someone like me who's had a 4 year layoff from flying for a living it's great to save and fly a whole bunch of standard domestic route here in N.Z. There's nothing like endless repetition to burn the numbers into the brain and life in an actual sim is so much easier if you're not having to pour over approach plates in a dark cockpit trying to figure out what the beep comes next. Guarantee that's when the mongrels will pull an engine on you! It impresses the hell out of a check and training captain if those briefings and checklists etc are really smooth, but once I get this IFR stuff sorted out I'm looking forward to using the toy part to the max as well. If you lose the boy in you, you've lost a lot.
