I still have problems with my ATC-sound, but i think i found something (I can understand if some of you slowly feel bored of this old discussion, but it just sucks without ATC- voices!!!), so if anyone can answer this question it´ll be just great!!!

Now, a few days ago i tried to play some .wav files from several aircraft\sound- folders. I normally do it with Winamp, so when i tried, there was an error-message with some of the files, something like "missing Audio-codec". But just with some files, it played the major part of them without any problems.
(few weeks ago i played on LAN with some friends, and one of them had a package with codecs and i installed them, but immeditally after that windows told me that the system would run unstable from then on. maybe that was my fault)

Could that be the answer? Missing codecs?

If it plays WAVs but not MP3s, or something to that affect, then yes, most likely it is audio codec problems. I assume you tried uninstalling/reinstalling your sound card drivers. How about DirectX. Media player 9 provides lots of codecs too.

What do computers and air conditioners have in common?
They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

Thanks for the replie!

mmh, I already updated the Media Player Codecs via Microsoft.com, but i didn´t thought of reinstalling soundcarddrivers so far, i´ll trie it!

Will you still be there for me if that doesn´t work? Grin

Im not sure i thing its really *.mp3 named at the end as *:wav see *.WAV is too big i assume as i saw in other prgm as counter strike or quake their named as *.wav but realy its an *mp3 .....I think Roll Eyes

yeah, but even if it is an .mp3 winamp would play it, or not? I mean i still can listen to my music and stuff, but certain .wav files are not played by winamp in my case...

oh...oh.....i just updated my sounddrivers and the codecs, but nothin changed....still no ATC-sound....that will bring me bad dreams now, actually i wanted to try to sleep now.... Sad

Hm, Let me experiment a while and see if I can shut mine off from outside the flight sim.

What do computers and air conditioners have in common?
They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

...just found out that the "flighttraining" (with awsome Rod machado Grin

) sounds are diabled too...so, EVERYTHING in the flights that have to do with voices isn´t functioning... Shocked

No sweat, I have my "backingup routine" down to a science. And I have a lot of "lost data" to prove it! Grin

But Mr. Ray Ban, I can't seem to get the affect you are talking about without my opersys telling me what's missing. Sorry.
