3:
-Better flight models
-Better AI
-Better graphics
-Clouds you actually can hide in
-more objects renderable at a time, better render engine
-Real groundwar going on
Modellers paradise, build as detailed as you want, CFS3 can handle it.

2:
Better missions builder
World terrain

I also prefer Cfs 2

It has a better experience as a whole.

I can't explain it but CFS3 just feels "wrong"

???

I prefer CFS3. I find it has better game play than CFS2. I always thought CFS2 didn't feel right.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. CFS 2 better.
1) You have , controlable External views you can pan around with. See a whole squadren ships,or vehicles, from a distance away,or close up from any angle.
This is great  from a mission builders point of view.
2) Also the option of using CFS1 control buttons.
Strangely, This was all deleated with CFS3.
I have written Microsoft about this, but of course recieved no response.

A great many more aircraft, and world scenery were made , because of CFS2' more open architechture
Another reason why I like CFS2 alot.

CFS 3 also has some fantastic qualities; (including fixing some major CFS2  problems}.

I only wished CFS3 had the above CFS2 features, as I really enjoyed travelling to different points on the battlefield, to watch it unfold, and also, test the mission builder.
If ever they make another CFS4 , Microsoft should really , really install the above good , CFS 2 features,
otherwise, I'll be playing "Pacific Battles" from the makers of "IL-2 " .

Redfire, to use FS keyboard commands just select "Flight Simulator" from the control options.
To view AI objects in external view hit CTRL + Shift + F4, this will change your player2target view to target2player view ( you can't pan around though but zoom in and out)

I'm going with CFS 2. Apart from the fact that the whole world is modeled, the format is the same as the FS series which gives you a chance to import FS aircraft into the sim.

That being said, I still play CFS 3 from time to time Grin

For an old fart like me; I prefered using CFS1 keyboard commands, with CFS2.

Just a note regarding CFS3 keyboard commands, The
option for "Flight Simulator" is NOT the same as CFS1.

Thanks Mathias, regarding the target external views.
I read about that sometime last year, on this site.
Maybe it was you, who might have mentioned it. I don't know.
I kind of though prefer, to pan around with these views, to look at the heavy loss  of say a large  B-24 formation, or to study the destuction of an airfield, or trucks.
Don't get me wrong, I love the grapphics of CFS3. and seperate ground battles. I wish I can view them as they unfold, from different panning angles.

I just wish, that if microsoft ever made another CFS, that they would incorperate the best aspects of CFS2 into this.  1) panning external  target views, and,  2) for lazy folks like me,  an option for, The original CFS1 keyboard commands.

Ok: now where getting somewhere.....
Thanks Mathias!
I have a problem, I can't reach this link you gave me here, .
Can You tell me more about it?
How long was this in development?, Or a projected release date?
I haven't been on line, regularly for about 8 months,  as I had hard drive problems.
(I use to follow the latest news, every night).
Maybe you might know another link?
Its' not just a CFS3 add-on?
Its' really a stand alone game?
This is all very intresting, If you can tell me any more, Id really appreciate this ...
Thanks again. Mathias.

Redfire, no idea why the link doesn't work for you, works fine for me.
Any popup blockers or something at your end?

Let's say it's a standalone addon for CFS3.
The installer will copy the core code off your default CFS3 installation and make a new game of it while your stock install will not be modified.
We can't change the code so we'll be limited to what M$ allowed us to do.
There'll however be a complete new terrain, many new aircraft objects, vehicles.
Cities will be fully destroyable, basically all facilities/airfields and the like will be made from scratch so that you defacto will have a new game.
We are working on it for two month now.
No release date as of yet but we're hoping to have a beta out by christmas.
Oh, it's freeware and basically everybody who has a name and a reputation in the community is involved Smiley
Ah yes, and it looks as if we have valuable help from certain higher instances Smiley
