Very nice, but I thought the Skyraider was designated AD-4...

Thanks, all... Kevin, I thought so too, but the program said it was an A-1... That may be an earlier model...?

Nice shots Flyboy. Wink

PS. Sussex Airshow 2004. Thought for one moment I'd missed out on something. Shocked
Quite a coincidence that I live in another Sussex - 3,000 miles away from yours. Wink

You're both right.

The Douglas Skyraider was the AD  (-4 being the variant).  In 1962 (thereabouts) the designation of most military aircraft was "consolidated" and the AD became the A-1 (just as the F4H and F-110 became the F-4; but the few reamining F4D Skyrays I believe retained their F4D designations - Don't ask why the F-117 remains in the century series of fighter designations when it's really an attack ("A") aircraft.
