I live and work less than 1/4 mile from Standiford international ( KSDF ), a major UPS hub so I see all of the oops aircraft 24 hours a day. A few miles away are KLOU ( Bowman ) and KJVY ( Clark Co., Indiana ), two nice municipal airports.

Just to the south of the city is a 2000 foot grass strip with interesting aproaches ( 07KY ) that in real life is very claustrophobic with trees, houses and fences. Unfortunately
it is not shown well in fs9.

my hometown airport is ft. lauderdale. (KFLL). Of course, because of Hurricane Frances, (coming in 24 hrs) the airports are closing. Hopefully, the power wont go out! LOL!

Hey taracer89,

I live in Binghamton (KBGM) and today I flew a standard VOR to VOR IFR flight up to your city. I did a standard approach to ILS Rwy 19 and as ATC had me circling in from the north I noticed a large body of water about 15-20NM north of KALB. What is that?

Well.

In Harare, Zimbabwe, my home, in the sim..........

There's nothing, like there is in the real world. The airports' , Charles Prince and Harare Intl., layout is the same as the real world, but no buildings at all similar to the real things, unfortunately.

I am a berliner ,
microsoft has done a fairly good job although they have missplaced some of the landmark buildings (the clock
tower of the "Kaiser-Willhelm-Gedächniskirche"
a destroyed church in the city center witch was left damaged as a anti-war reminder - is a couple kilometres in another part of the town & the jewish museum is at the wrong side of the neighbouring "Berlin Museum"
but that is very excusable and will hopefully be fixed
in fs10 .
By the way I took a round flight with a DC-3 from Tempelhof last week and it was just great!!!!!!
The airplane is a real airlift veteran , beautyfully
restored and Tempelhof the right setting-
the city council is planning to close Tempelhof
in october and if they really do ( I hope they don´t !!!!)
it was a nice farewell to this historical place .

My Home town is Coventry in the UK, tho I live in Canada now. There too is a destroyed Cathedral as a reminder of what the dogs of war can do. Unfortunately, everyone in the UK is solely interested in making scads of money on the backs of people like you and I. Thats why there is not too much free ware scenery available. Mind you, one can't blame them as all the money in the world is being made this side of the pond. I guess they deserve to try and scam some from us. Grin

Try taking off from EGAC, ideally from runway 22. If you have the IFSD (www.ifsd.ie) scenery installed, you'll see the massive Harland and Wolff cranes to the right, where the Titanic was built.

My girlfriend lives about 2 miles from the end of that runway, so whenever I'm at her house, I get to see lots of Dash 8s, A320s and BAE146s ! Man, those Airbuses are loud!

Off to the right is Cavehill.....Belfast Zoo is located on that hill. If you continue south, about 10nm from the NDB (420.0), you'll find my house. I'm roughly under the DME ARC approach to EGAA RW25, the main airport in Northern Ireland. That means lots of Easyjet 737s overhead!

Check out the IFSD scenery (it's free) and explore all of Ireland! With a couple of mesh files, Ireland becomes a great place to go flying.

I learned to fly at First Air Field, Monroe WA (KW16) one of the smaller airports in the area... unfortunately they don't show all the horse barns you have to clear when landing runway 25. lol Or the houses, and rows of airplanes either side of the runway, but, it's pretty close. I always seem to fly high approaches, because I'm so used to the sight picture I get when landing on this runway in their Cessna 150 with full 40 degrees of flaps. lol (Man, that's so great, I miss all those flaps. lol)

Where I currently work is Harvey Airfield, a few miles away, (KS43) It is actually very accurate to how the airport is layed out. Taxiway layout, runway layout... and the location of all the buildings are perfect... someone from Renton must have come here often in order to put so much accuracy into it.

As for where I currently fly for school in Ellensburg Washington (KELN) it also is very accurate... but Ellensburg isn't nearly as complicated a place as Harveys. lol
