If youa re talking about in the signature, you have to upload an image (not very big. Large pics in sigs are annoying Wink ). if you are talking about an avatar, you have to make a picture on your hard drive, shrink the size down to 80 x 80 or less (I think) and not over 10kb in size (I think again. Been a while since I uploaded my mugshot)

Click "Upload Images" in  the light blue bar at the top of the page, and find the pic in your files that you want to uplload. Then once you get file uploaded successfully, copy the http address it gives you http;//www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/yourpic.jpg. Remember the name that you gave the image on your PC such as "SaVas.jpg"

Then if in your signature click the insert image in the "Add YABBC tags"

Remove the letters URL between the tags and insert the http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/yourpic.jpg between them.

Then where it says "yourpic" in the http address replace that with the name you orig gave the image such as my example above so it would be http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/SaVas.jpg

So it will look like [img}http;//www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/SaVas.jpg{/img]
(NOTE: both ['s replaced with { so as to not make an actual image)

Then save your profile

Good luck.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack thread. I have also been wondering how to place a pic in my sig. I've uploaded a photo to yabbuploads but all I come up with is a box with an X in the middle. What am I doing wrong?

It can be difficult to get pictures to work ( I still havnt done it ) make sure that you have the exact name of the file with either a .jpg or a .JPEG at the end. Capital letters can make a difference too, so just try a few things.

For some reason I have never managed to insert a pic that I uploaded onto this site, so I just use my own site for images. Yabb just doesnt like me  Tongue .

Hi Galactic_eyes...!
That looks a bit dodgy to me...
You have the pic linked to another site*, taking ages to download, and I think is illegal on Simviation... Cry...?
It's way over 1 Mb  in size... Shocked...!
Upload your pic to the Simviation site...the same as you do with your screen-shots, and download from there...much quicker, and is instant... Wink...!

Cheers Mate...!

Paul.

Hmmmm,

Let me see if I can help. Send me a message of the file name you are trying to post Galactic, and I will play around with it. Could be a number of things.

???

I can never understand all these problems people have with pics

There's now a pic called galactic_howard on SimV which you can see at

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/galactic_howard.jpg

Uploading took about 10 seconds.

If you want to see it in your sig or in a thread you just put square img brackets around it as follows (but without the spaces which I've left so the pic doesn't appear)

[ img ]http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/galactic_howard.jpg
[/ img ]

Could that be any easier?

The thing to remember is that not everyone is as computer-saavy as we are.  I got it so quickly because the code here on Yabb is similar to HTML (which I have written from time to time using just notepad and a browser).

What seems "easy" to us is probably not so to the ones who ask how to do so.

Ever heard of a rhetorical question?

As someone who has spent time teaching math to unemployed innumerate kids and had the satisfaction of seeing (many of) their faces light up when they began to solve problems after 'how' had been explained to them maybe for the first time ever, I never make assumptions that anyone doesn't have the savvy to do anything!

I explained the process in about 2 lines - I still have to ask 'could it be any easier' and I don't think the guys who currently have the problems and hopefully soon won't need any excuses made for em as between them I'll bet they've got plenty of savvy  Wink

Anyway, we'll see  8)

Sorry to be such a bother but, thanks for the help. The problem is with my webpage I guess. I can pull my avatar from my page but not one for my sig. I ended up uploading the pic here.
I need to delete a pic from yabbuploads. How do you do this?
