I think the forums got hungry again, so I'll try, erm... again.

With all settings on max (weather to "cold fronts"), flying around KIAH in the default Cessna 172, I get a minimum of about 7 FPS, what can I do to improve this? This is using the Skorpion set-up (check signature). Wink

My best advice? If you can afford to spend about $75 and 3-5 hours, contact www.FS-GS.com

For me, the 64 M Ti video card stands out like a sore thumb for running fs2004.

Before you do much of anything...... plan on getting a fast 128M current technology video card. That should make a good start. Look in the "hardware" forum for the recent threads that have benchmark graphs from Tom's to compare general card characteristics.... and look for your current one to get a comparison.

Get the most video card you can afford. I don;t think therer is a card available yet that is "too good" for running fs2004.

Even with my setup (see below)...... I'm not happy with frame rates in most "short final" situations. FS2004 is a very demanding program.

To put my comments in perspective..... I have this "aversion" to turning off advertised features and improvements in a program I have bought just to make it run acceptably Wink

Its the whole system. Yes my new gen card has made a difference (Big difference) I previously had a GF4 ti4600. Trust me if you get a new gen card u will notice a big difference. Yes my FPS still drop on short final but to about 18-20 and even at this the game still looks smooth to me, though others might find it not smooth depends how good your eyes are Wink

I have everything maxxed except for AI which is at 75% and 3d cloud coverage to medium and the sight distances half way. I cant really notice much difference in this setting to the clouds being maxxed so it is a happy medium for me.

Thing is you need the best of everything for FS2004. It uses 100% cpu power and munches up ram too. When playing FS2004 I am using about 600meg ram (I have 1gig) though what is strange is some of my page space is still being used even though I have free ram.

On another note all my other games I play, COD, Joint Operations, CFS3, MOH, and others all I can say is WOW. Im playing all of em at 1600x1200 Grin
