I had something scary happen!! I was flying VFR on downwind to San diego's Lindburgh field and a C-172 hit me and I crashed because of it!!! I couldn't believe it! I searched through the FS9 flight scenarios to see if it was some kind of pre-programmed thing.

The only thing that would have iced the cake would be if I was flying a PSA 727 instead of a Pan Am.

I've discovered that ATC (if you're checked in) does not always give traffic calls. I use Lee Hetherington's TCAS II 7.0.

I had to manually add it to every aircraft I wanted it on, but I can replace the default VSI with it, and have it in my VC.

You can change some settings to give traffic calls based on certain ranges. Default is something like 3-5nm and +/-9900 ft.

You'll get verbal alerts to approaching aircraft and it will show you on the VSI if you can move up or down to avoid.

I think it's great.

You have to be very alert at busy airports like LAX. ATC does next to nothing to separate aircraft. They'll clear you and other planes to land on the same runway at the same time.

Many times I have had other aircraft cut in front of me and sometimes I just couldn't get out of the way in time.

I said that it was strange because something like this happened in 1978 in San diego. A PSA 727 and a 172 collided.
The,,, both planes crashed. The 727 wiped out about 7 houses. I knew a little bit about the story, but after what happened to me, I REALLY read up on it.

WhooooF! Kinda chilled me.

There is also a frightening photo of the 727 going down, on fire!

I looked up online; fotos and CVR recordings of the accident.

In FS9, ATC can get you all screwed up. It is pretty impressive though.
I was holding short at an intersection when a Baron landed, jammed on the brakes to make the turn onto the taxiway where I was. The 'pilot' stopped, did a 180 and back taxied. That was pretty cool. Like real!!
