i have a problem with the ATC, it doesnīt speak with me any more. i have the problem since i installed the SDK voicepack editor, i must have changed something accidentally. I have reinstalled the FS2004 several times, but nothing did help, i even bought and installed "Traffic2004" (i have read that there is some new ATC in this package), thereīs just no cure in sight. if someone here knows the problem, i can send you some screenshots of my soundfolder, i think there is some .cfg file missing, but iīm just not sure about it. please would someone help me, itīs just so boring flying around without ATC.... ???

that was a very informative post/ answer by me, Mr. Ray_Ban, and i send greetz with it, of course!!!

...*sigh* i just found out, that half of my aircrafts have no sound, too.....WHATīS GOIN ON???? ie the 747-400 (default), when i open the sound .cfg i only read the lines alias=737-400! Is there any possibility that my codec for the audio files is not complete or correct or whatever? Is it possible that i have to reinstall the whole damn system? Embarrassed

First things first the sound folder of any plane has nothing to with ATC.The sound folder of each plane is where you get your engine sounds from. So if you default B747-400 has no engine sounds and the sound cfg says it is alised to the b737-400 Than that means it will use the sounds of the B737-300. However if that plane has no actual sound files then you will get no engine sounds from the default B747.
But as I said this has nothing to do with ATC that comes from the main sound folder in FS.
What I would suggest you try is to put in disk one and unzip the gameone.cab file into a dummy folder not FS2004. this will give you all of the default aircraft you can compare these with the one you have on fs9 to find out if you have any missing sound files.

Did you say something to ATC which could have made them angry at you?   Grin

Just kidding.  As a sanity check, what are your sound options set at?  I don't think there'd be anything amis here, but you never know when you'll get bit by a "duh" problem like that.  How about sound card drivers and settings?  Wish I had more to add.  I'm really stretching here...

I checked my sound options already, but it looked ok. But iīll try that with the .cab file, didnīt think of that so far....but, i remember now when the problem started: I installed this f****** program named ATC voice editor. Just for fun (i didnīt know what i was doinī there, i have to say.... Roll Eyes i selected one of the files in the Program folder ( no file from the FS folder, sure!) and started some action, and the editor began immediatelly parsing some ATC files. After that, they decided not to talk to me anymore.... Grin No, seriously, thatīs when it all started, still donīt know what the editor did to my soundfiles... Cry

Just a tip, whenever you are adding onto any software package, back up the FS folder from time to time...

have you tried restoring the voice files from the CD. Might be worth a try.

CD2, msgame (4,5,and 6).cab contain the 3 voicepack files used to build ATC and ASOS voice communications.

The files are usenglishsmall.gvp, usenglishbig.gvp and usenglishasos.gvp. (In the usenglish version of course)

Cheers,
Dave
