Hi everyone! Couple of questions here.

1) Can anyone tell me where I can get the VOR numbers from for each airport. I need it for the OBS. Its a real pain when flying.. I have only the numbers for the airports in the charts provided in the lessons material.

2)Is there any program free that I can speak to ATC over a headphones with a microphone rather than use the keyboard? The keyboard isn't realistic.

1. if you look at the map and click one the airport you want it sould show you all of the things you need.

2.teams pike peak is good. you use it on multiplayer. www.temspikepeak.com i think thats what it is

I think my first problem is answered.

As for the second... I'm not sure what VATSIM is. I meant that in the real worls pilots say for example outloud to ATC "Cessna 123, roger". They don't press option 1 on a keyboard than option 2 etc! I think it is the most unrealistic part of the sim.

Ben, there should be a little icon that looks like a circle with points on it, click that and the map view should come up, best done near the airport you want the numbers for, click on the airport and it will give you the info, if the icon isnt there just look in the menu options its there somewhere.
As for talking to the ai controller, i havent heard it being possible. Only through these online flights.

Saitek,

I use FlightAssistant2. It allows me to verbally use the ATC window. You can customize the commands. It will do a lot more than just interface with ATC.

Basically, you say a command, and the computer will verbally respond and execute any associated key commands.

I use a program called Voicemaster Pro to talk to ATC and to ask my copilot to do things like raise or lower flaps Wink

. It is basically voice recognition software that sends a sequence of keystrokes when it "hears" the trigger phrase.

For online flying I have Teamspeak II. It works amazingly well. Great for flying on one of the many FSHost boards on the net. Now that I have 768K DSL.... flying online is a real option.

Voicemaster Pro is a payware program.... but it is cheap. If I remember correctly there is also a freeware version of it that has fewer capabilities.

Heya Saitek,

I also second going to check out AirNav.com like Nexus suggested. I'm a big fan as well. It has all of the information about the airport. Comm, Nav, ATIS, Tower and Ground frequencies, runway weight limitations, SIDs, STARS, and everything!! Beginning in July 2004 it even includes a FAA approved Airport diagram chart showing the runways and taxiways (in PDF format--you have to have the Adobe reader to view these charts) !! You can even print out the airport diagram as well as SIDs and STARS for future reference. This website, unfortunately, only covers US airports and some US affiliated areas.

I created myself a new folder in the Main FS 2004 directory called Airport Information. I have other sub-folders within named by states (i.e. Alaska, Alabama, California, etc.). I have created Internet Explorer links for these airports in these folders for future use. That way I can just go click on one of these links and get the latest updated airport information.

Thanks for the this guys...I can't see what I am looking for though in question 2. Although I might take up Flight Assistant2 it is for making commands to the sim to do something like "raise flaps",not just gernal chit chat between ATC getting clearance to take off etc.
Maybe I should raise my voice in the payware section. Roll Eyes
