I think that my favorite is pretty obvious-
1969 Chevrolet Camaro (especially the SS396 & Z-28 )
I am a big fan of muscle cars and a couple others that are near the top of my list are:
1970 Dodge Charger R/T
1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28
1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396
1969 Pontaic GTO "The Judge"
1970 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z-28

1967 Camaro 327cid, 210hp - a plain jane car, but my favourite.
1969 Camaro Z/28. Started life with the 305, but ended with a 350 after my brother blew the 305.

hmmm...so many tough choices...
My uncle out west had a 63 Vette Sting ray until early 90's when it was stolen and never recovered...
Now that was a ncie car...
I believe that my grandmother is going to give me my grandfather's project car, a 1963 Mercury Comet w/a 289 and automatic transmission... Everything runs, just needs cosmetics and minor power steering work...
I also know a guy who has a 67 chevelle for sale at a pretty good price, unfortunately I had to buy school books again...
but alas, I suppose that my favorite car from that period would have to be the 67 mustang, 289 with a 4-speed, convertible top, black leather interior, and bright cherry red paint...

Nice Choices...srry about the 63 Vette
, I came up with some more cars.
A) My 69 GTO Coupe with the RA III engine and every option except for the judge
B)A 70 Dodge Superbee with a Hemi engine
C)My dad's friend owns a REAL 1970 Superbird, all original. He also had a REAL 1969 GTO Judge Convertible, he over restored it so it was spotless! he sold it for 20K 4-5 yrs ago!

I hope its not a really flat/dull yellow color. That is a common color used to hide defects in the car's body (caused by wrecks). If there hasn't been good body work done, it is common to paint it like that so its not as visible.
I hope thats not the case, but it could be. Either way, it sounds like a great project and I hope you have fun with it.

the 455 SD was a very nice engine, but... Pontiac was going to come out with a Ram-Air V engine. About 200 were built and later sold for about 2K in the 70's. Pontiac even had a Ram-Air VI and Ram-Air VII in the works.

True, the only downside was that the Ram Air V lacked streetability. Whereas anyone could drive a SD 455 car, they were quite docile with all that torque.

Mustangs are my favorite. The '68, '69 428 SCJ is my mythic stang of all. Also, in 1963 Ford put a 427 side oiler in the T-bird. If I could but find one. Very rare, very overlooked, and very fast. Also, a lucky lady works at our post office here in town is first with an '05 stang. Black GT. She give tours. Very nice, lot more substance than the fox platform stangs had and Ford did well with it. Funny thing. One can talk about all the fine muschle cars that have come and gone. And yes, all the makers made wonderful ones, some of which I would love to drive or own. But the last one standing of that species is the humble little mustang. Production is very much sales driven and the mustang earned its continued survival and evolution.

One thing you all need to remember is that while cubic inches are viscerally impressive the fact remains that technological improvements have enabled car makers to get out of only 200 something cubic inches what used to require 400 something to do. In the 60's an off the lot big block might be capable of a 14 -15 second quarter and with drag tires, a taller rear and possibly a better flowin carb that average could drop to the 10-12 level. Flash forward to the early 21st century. Now we see Mustang Cobras capable of running 12's on 281 cid and yes, (gasp) rice rockets doing the same thing with hairdryer blown pocket sized 4 and 6 cylinders. I am realistic enough to realize whats been accomplished with hi tech but emotionally give me the Cobra or even one of Chrysler's neo hemis. Although, I still dream of the '69 mustang 428 cj.

True, but let's not forget two facts. First modern Mustangs and the Japanese cars are much smaller and lighter, plus you have to rev them hard compared to the cars of old.
A friend went to the unveiling of the new Mustang at his local dealer a week or two back. He has a 1980 Trans Am and said the interior of his car is limousine sized compared to the new Mustang.
Something like a 73/74 Super Duty T/A was a comfortable car, and as an automatic could get into the 13s. Plus I think a 4,000 lb F body would be safer in a crash than a little Subaru.
