A jetstream is basically a "river" of wind at certain (usually high) altitudes. A plane going in the direction of the jetsream gets an extra push, similar to a boat going downstream can go faster than a boat going upstream.

#1  If you're ozzy, fly inverted, so the jetstream thinks you're actually flying away, then ease into it, while opening the rear ramp of the An124.

#2 Every one else, flies up to the altitude of the jetstream.

its still not an exact science for finding the jetstream, but usually you will have the current track its on, and then its just working out the altitude which isnt too difficult because it can be 1000's of feet in height

If you're in Ozzy's Piper Cub over St. Louis, heading to Los Angeles, and you see the Statue of Liberty, an hour later, you can say you caught the jestream.

You whip out the VAD winds chart or look at the sats to find itt's teltale path.

Any moment, everything can change, Feel the wind on your shoulder, For a minute, all the world can wait, Let go of your yesterday. Can you hear it calling? Can you feel it in your soul? Can you trust this longing? And take control, Fly! Open up the part of you that wants to hide away! You can shine, Forget about the reasons why you can't in life, And start to try, cause it's your time, Time to fly. - H.D., Fly
