Money doesn't matter..so they say...but after paying for college here is what you will be making flying for the airline you do...I found is stomping the the CAPT. of an American Airlines 777 gets $35 an hour.....but to be a 777 CAPT it takes a few years..any ways...money doesn't matter....but just have a look.

Also, for those of you "in the know", how much cash and how many years does it take to become an airline pilot? Assuming you don't go the military route...

Depends on what training you choose.
I know schools that will get the job done from no experience to first officer in a Beech 1900 in just 18 months.
you can also go via Universities (get a degree while you get your licenses), and that can take 2 to 4 years.
However, remember that you will be a FO...to be a captain expect some years as First Officer (2-3) and this is just for the aircraft you are currently rated on
When moving up the ladder you'll first be in the right seat - again

Thanks,
Just wondering if this would be a viable future career path if I ever get sick of what I'm currently doing. Maybe if I ever want to go in to super-semi-retirement...
Starting from scratch $50k is quite a reasonable entry cost in to the profession. It's about on par with what a lesser private university would charge for a Bachelor's degree, and it sounds like pay would be similar to a typical starting pay for the holder of a normal Bachelor's degree.
