FS9 Beechcraft Kingair Failure? (Read 227 times)

Ok folks: I've been getting back into FS9 after a long hiatus (I last played in my teens), and am slowly moving up to bigger aircraft. Now everytime I try and fly the Beechcraft Kingair, about 15 minutes into the flight, the electrical systems fail. I have never set any failures; up till the moment of the failure I monitor the "Failure" menu, and it shows nothing, and then boom - the lights go off, the HSI disappears, the AP goes off, the VSI goes off ... etc. etc. The Failuure menus shows that the electric systems have been set to fail. Nothing I do there changes anything. It's most peculiar.
I don't have any add-ons or freeware of payware installed (I know I know -- but I'm new to this y'all!) -- well I did download some freeware scenery for KCAE (home airport), but this has happened before I did that as well. Any ideas what might be going on? ???

PS: I've read stuff on here for a week or so now -- y'all are really cool!

make sure the altenator or generator switch is turned on, or else it will drain up the battery and cause your electrical to fail

god, i thought i was the only one who had this problem. first, is the failure only on the kingair? on my game, i was havin the problem on all aircraft (umm, i think...). there were 2 strategies i found useful. resetting the failure and then changing the aircraft should work, and restarting fs should also help. eventually, this problem stopped plagueing me without an uninstall. good luck. imagine my frustration when this nasty little problem pops up during my preflight checklist, sitting at sydney, ready to get my IFR clearances to LAX. ugh.

afi0yz -- THANKS! I turned on two generator switches and it worked! The electrics stayed on! (At one point the "master warning" light came on saying there was low oil pressure in the left engine. The oil pressure gauge didn't corroborate. It went away after 15 mins. or so. Weird)

Beefhole -- I've only noticed this with the Kingair. I haven't gone on to flying the jets yet. Trust me, it took a lot of time to get my hand steady enough to keep a Cessna and then a Baron in level flight.

BTW, when I had the failure problem on the Kingair, reseting the flight didn't help, since it would occur again, at the same time. So I do think, in my case, it was because I didn't turn the battery alternators on. I guess they have those pre-flight checklists for a reason!

ok, glad u got it fixed, but i was careful to mention that after resetting the FAILURE(not the flight) you had to change planes. you are correct, simply resetting the flight will not work. any way, glad its working again. now to go post my woes...

At least it didn't happen in the air. Grin

I had a complete engine failure once after I let a friend's kids play with the simulator. Discovered they'd set it up as a trick. Was actually the most realistic failure I've experienced flying a sim. Gonna have to have the kids over more often. Grin
