I just got the ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128 MB Graphics card yesterday, but CFS3 Doesn't even look half as good as it was on my old Nivida Ti-4200 64 MB card, even with all the sliders set to max, whats up with that, any tricks to make it look better?

I've just built up my new computer and it has an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256 meg card in it and CFS3 looks just fine. Runs better too. I found that on my old computer that my MX440 did the trick with CFS2 and 3 but made FS2K2 look very crappy whilst my old Kyro II card would not run CFS3 and only ran CFS2 on low/medium settings but FS2K2 looked superb ??? It will take someone more clued up than me to answer this one me thinks.

If you have a Intel chipset, you should visit their website and download the .INF Update Utility for your chipset.  It could be the Radeon card is detecting the wrong AGP speed.  Also, I could never get CFS3 to run in 1280 x 1024 mode with my Radeon 9600.  Try running at 1024 x 768.

How does the 9600 have more memory than the 9800?

The 9600 could have more memory if the manufacturer simply puts more memory on the board.  The original ATi 9600 only comes in 128, but when companies get their hands on it such as Powercolour, Asus, and Sapphire, they can put more memory on it.  Remember though that just because there is more memory doesn't mean its better.  The Radeon 9800 Pro 128 and 256mb versions show virtually no difference at all except in the rare case where the 256 will outperform the 128.  Not worth another 100$

To get back on topic though, I am running a Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb.  Game looks great, but after a while of playing, everything except the sky and ground turns white; planes, buildings, cockpit, menus... everything.

System Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3000
1gb Hynix PC3200 Ram
Radeon 9800 Pro 128
SB Audigy 2
80Gb Seagate S-ATA

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/support_intel.asp?iid=HPAGE+header_su...;

Once this page loads, on the left hand menu, select Chipsets >>> Desktop Chipsets >>> Your Chipset.  Once the page for your chipset loads, download the .INF Update Utility [INFINST.EXE].

Your welcome.

I was just wondering because, had that not worked, I had a list of other things you could try.

Glad it worked! Smiley
