I am building a seaplane tender ship. I would like to be able to have a landable surface slanting into the water running up to the level opperations deck. So the seaplanes can make a water landing then drop gear & taxi up the slant to the opps deck. Is this possible? For fs2k2. Using FDSDv2. I am hoping to be able to make a player useable craft as well as a scenery .bgl.

I don't think you'll find that you can make a hard surface that isn't level

What about using EOD to create a slanting landing base. All you would have to do is convert the file into a macro then use one of the scenery programs to place it near the water, I've never tried it, but I don't see why it couldn't work ???

I seem to remember in a scenery editor tutorial, FSSC I think, on making an island in the north sea. That after you set the height above sea level area for the island then the ground level drops gradually into the sea. I hope I can find it again. RollerBall's reply discourages the idea of a player usable version, but the island redone as a ship to make a landing area has been around since cfs1, the Ark Royal. Sounds like it is trial and error time for me.

OK, but it won't be hard
Have a go with the island idea - but I think you'll need to create it with something like CoastLineMaker. You don't get land-water transitions just by plonking polygons in water! There's quite a bit more to it.
Also, I've found that there are some inherent problems with FS9 land-water transitions that didn't exist in previous versions, due to the new XML scenery format I think.
What tends to happen is that the water clings to the object and slopes up from the sea level to the surface of the object

Well the least I will get is the ship as a visual scenery. Even if it cannot be made landable. I might jump the project back to CFS2 format to get the effect I want. Thanks for the ideas guys.
