Hi Guys,
Firstly I want to change the locations of installed airfields/ports.  Is it a relatively simple task do?  Do I use a BGL decompiler, then change position details?, what about heights? etc etc.

Secondly I would like to create my own airfields/ports.  What are the best options.

Ideas/advice please.

Many thanks

Shessi ???

Hi Shessi. I don't think there's much you can do about the default airfields. You can create new airfields or add to existing ones. Check out FSSC. http://www.fssc.avsim.net/
The latest version comes with sample CFS2 airfields.

Hagar,
As usual, many thanks for the pointer.
I would still like to know for sure if there is no way of 'moving' airfields to another location.  Surely they have co-ordinates in the file, which some clever person must have come up with something to edit them?

In the mean time, I'll have a play.

Thanks again

It might be possible by decompiling, manually editing & recompiling the BGL files. This is beyond my capabilities & I wouldn't attempt it myself. The question is: Why would you wish to move them? I assume they're already in the correct locations.

You will be surprised at what you can do with FSSC once you get used to it. Wink

Another problem when moving default airfields is the missions associated with the airfields.

You would have to edit each mission Lips Sealed

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the advice.  I have downloaded and am playing with FSSC 1.5.  Looks like just what I wanted.

The reason for moving airfields, is that some are just not in the correct location, and others are so good I would like to replcate them and put them in other locations (for my own use only).
There are many others, designed for CFS1, that have the wrong runway height etc etc, that would be great to amend so I could use them.
Strato, I hear what you say, that's not a prob though.

So if there is anyone who knows another way of editing airfield files to change location, heights etc etc.....?

Hi Strato,
Yes I dwnld'd the latest version.  Made a very basic airfield, and placed it exactly where I wanted it.
It's a begining!      Hooray!!Grin

To save time, it would still be great to use some of the old CFS1 fields, and some of the CFS2 ones, and just place them in the 'right' location...ho hum. ???

We'll see!

Hey Shessi

Have you looking in the CFS 2 Forum @ SOH, there is a thread going on about the GSL Editor.
