I decided that my room was boring and would like to add a Japanese theme. I'm trying to find a very nice program, freeware or payware, to design my room before I do anything with it. I have an idea what I want it to look like, but need to see it visually before I decide to buy anything.

I take it you like anime. 3D Home Architect is a common program for that kind of thing. You can get it at places like Staples and Office Depot. Of course you could just draw it on a peice of paper.

I only pretend to know what I'm talking about. Heck, that's what lawyers, car mechanics, and IT professionals do everyday. Wink&&The Rig: &&AMD Athlon XP2000+ Palomino, ECS K7S5A 3.1, 1GB PC2700 DDR, Geforce FX5200 128mb, SB Live Platinum, 16xDVD, 16x10x40x CDRW, 40/60gb 7200rpm HDD, 325w Power, Windows XP Home SP1, Directx 9.0c with 66.81 Beta gfx drivers

Honto ni!

I use Punch Professional Home Design Suite........ it is VERY useful for designing architectural stuff.  I think it sells in the under $100 range.  It allows 3-d walk thru and fly around views, will do plumbing and electrical and heating, and builds materials lists.  It allows you to place furniture and move it and other stuff...and add carpeting and wall covering.  It also lets you design any 3-d stuff like tables (or tatami) you want to put into rooms.  Pretty professional package.

I recently designed a whole 16' x 25' x 2 story addition to my home on it.  That design includes a Japanese tatami style room (for eating and tea Ceremony)  Wink and a bedroom and bath with strong Japanese design influence.

There is a good book available titled something like "Add a Japanese Touch to Your Western Home" or something like that that I have seen in the bookstores.  Don;t have it so I can't check the exact title for you....sorry. Check around.

I too enjoy the Japanese aesthetic.... in fact, I just got back from two months in Japan.  See my website for more on that kind of stuff.  Good luck with your project.
