I went to my local airfield this weekend and look what was waiting there for me! It was the MAAM-SIM R4D-6!
I saw a maintenance guy working on her and I asked if I could take a few shots. He said.... "Go right ahead". So I did.
As he was walking away he said, "The flight deck is open, go take a look!".
Here are the shots!

What a site!

Her good side....  Wink

A shot from the tail...

Looking good!

The Flight Deck

The best part is yet to come.......
I actually went for a ride!!!
Stay tuned!!!

You got me... I was reading your story and only glanced at the first "photo" thinking to myself, "Why is this in this forum?"

Nice!

What do computers and air conditioners have in common?...
They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.

The R4D-6 is a modified C47b ( Developed for operations 'over the hump' between India and China. This version had better heating and R-1830-90C radials with two-stage blowers.) That was recieved by the US Navy from the USAF.

Which means the differance of a C47 and a DC3 is a DC3 is a passenger aircraft and a C47 is a military production model with 6in greater span, revised fuel tanks, R-1830-92 radials, small astrodome, and payload of 6,000lb or 28 paratroops or 14 casualties and three attendants.

By the way Dave how she fly?? Been considering a purchase soon, beautiful piece of work!!!
Great shots also, need to get me one of them computer setups!!!

I have had her for a couple of months now and she is absolutely fabulous!!!!  My favourite plane to just sit back in and enjoy the ride.  Since I did a lot of flights in ye ole DC3, I couldnt wait til it came out and was not disappointed one little bit.
btw:  There are a couple of updates several sites for this plane already.
