Not sure what caused me to try it tonight... but I just got online with fs2004 for the first time.

I had done online flying with fs2002 a bit ....and had nothing but problems with it.  But tonight with fs2004... it worked beautifully..... even with my dial up 56 K connection.  (And I have a new DSL line coming in about a week  Grin  Grin  Grin .)

I got onto the "online world" at this site.....

http://www.wspilots.com/

and installed the Teamspeak client to replace my old standby of Roger Wilco (guess it is not used much now).  That worked great too.... much better fidelity and less bandwidth impact.

I did the first two structured "hops" in the 189 hop system they have.  Mainly listened in to the live KC ATC on Teamspeak while I was flying GPS direct VFR routes. MUCH different from listening to AI ATC in the sim.  I  just switched freq's when I had to in order to announce intentions at the small airports.  I was flying a "lowly" C172.

It was a LOT of fun.  I had forgotten how the multiplayer setup somehow "changes" things from dealing with computer AI.

best,

Welll just got the DSL line installed....... 768 down and 384 up.  All I can say is WOW.  I just downloaded the 3 Meg rainsound update here in about 10 sec.  I finally will be able to really use multiplayer online well instead of having the dialup kick me all the time.

best,

Well..... the DSL is now fully christened!

Just did a real world weather flight from KASH (Boire in Nashua, NH) to KBHB (Bar Harbour in ME) on Esky.

As I was slowing on the runway...... a Beech Twin took off from the other end of the runway without announcing intentions on the radio.... either teamspeak OR the chat window.  I think it was deliberate + he was busting my chops.  Oh well.  Wink  Interesting surprise.

Not a glitch with the multiplayer connection on the DSL and even having Teamspeak running the whole time.

Here's the view of Acadia National Park in the background and the Bar Harbour airport in the foreground as I head upwind to get into the ILS for the runway.

I was just up there a couple of weeks ago for real.  Stayed at a motel right next to the runway.  It was right about the spot where the road in the screenie below takes the right turn at about the center of the runway.

...

I'm happy.
