I figured I would share the wicked weather we have in St. Louis for those that are not accustomed to seeing such insanity. This was a storm front that pelted the area I live in with hail, some over golfball sized. Also spurred a lot of tornados in and around the area,  around 2 pm about a month or so ago. Yes this is EARLY AFTERNOON when the sun was still high in the sky. I have not edited these shots at all.

...

This is the same storm. And that is NOT enhanced coloration, nor is it a fire, or the sun setting. This is the air/cloud color as the storm was passing over. In the first shot it was really dark. As it went overhead the sky became an electric green. Sadly I did not get a picture of the green color as I was busy watching the weather on TV. Tornado sirens were also going off lol.

...

These are a couple of shots I took on my way to Iowa to visit a friend. There were people pulled over everywhere along the highway taking pictures of this thunderstorm that was brewing. Want to fly through this???

...

A while later as the sun was setting and the clouds were blocking some of the sun rays. This one I did have to sharpen a bit because I was driving down the highway doing around 85 to 90 mph holding a camera and looking at the view window  Shocked

...

Enjoy Smiley

Sorry for the spots on the first two. I had the windows open and the screen lifted up with the rain blowing into my house and onto me and the camera.

That storm also produced close to 100 mile an hour wind gusts. I tell you, it was FREAKING INSANE lol. Horizontal rain, broken and toppled trees everywhere, and I mean everywhere. A lot of roads were not passable, and sadly there was one fatality about 2 miles from where I live due to a big oak tree falling on an SUV with a guy inside it who got stuck in the storm.

If anyone wants a big windows media viewer file of the first storm that looks like that first pic let me know, I will email it to you. Its about 30 seconds long and was taken about 10 minutes before all hell broke loose.

LOL We don't get many ordinary ones here.  Wrath of Mother Nature likes to punish those in the Mid West, but I tell you, these storms are a sight to behold!
