I was flying the big aircraft (the Boeings) and realized that they have extensive GPS capablities.

I saw that it had an option to select a certain runway, etc.

That got me to thinking, is it possible with FS2004 to land an airplane soley with GPS?

There are what are called GPS approaches and you should be able to do that in FS but to actually land using just that I rather doubt it. That would almost be a autoland which is something FS9 does not have.
But what the heck give it the old collage go just make sure you last will & testament is in order before hand Grin 8)

What exactly is a GPS approach, and how does it differ from an ILS approach?  Thanks.

FS9's GPS PROC gives one the lateral nav (route) but not vertical. Descent must be controlled by the crew (you)

IF you manipulate the altitude very carefully on the autopilot it is possible to make a near perfect approach never actually hand-flying the aircraft persay...

though this is not the recommended method of transportation, t is possible...with a little work on our part...Smiley

When I do the GPS approach I go to autopilot approach 20nm away from the Airport (in a big jet) and 60nm in a military fight, I slow to 160Knots flaps down and go to 1000FT when I see the runway I control the speed and Alt for a perfect landing Grin
