I download the plane and panel

I got the plane to work, but it had no 2D panel (the screen was black) ???

Hi Budd & welcome to the forums.  Smiley

1st this aircraft & it's default panel - + the recommended panel do work so we may need some more specific info - maybe a screenshot?

Do you mean you have a black outside view when trying to view the 2d panel?

If so - take a look at this

http://www.simviation.com/lair/CFSpc.htm

Or is the WHOLE screen black on 2d panel view

Is this the only FS2004 aircraft you have had a display problem with?

Is everything else in FS2004 (or other graphic display programs) behaving normally?

Can you provide sys specs? Mainly graphic card & what version of DirectX you have?

Do you have any utilities installed including payware?

Budd, is the F-16 your talking about the F-16 Viper by Kirk Olsson?  If so, you need to be careful when installing the panel. It says you need to use the panel.cfg file that comes with the F-16, not the panel.cfg from the panel download.  When installing the panel, install everything but the panel.cfg file.

I made the same mistake the first time too and it caused these problems.

I hope that made sense (i know it was pretty jumbled).   Grin

OK, I know its a little confusing (so try and bare with me  Wink).  When you first downloaded the F-16, inside its panel folder was a file called "panel.cfg."  That was the only file inside the panel folder.  When you downloaded the panel, there was all the standard things inside of it (the panel came with it's own panel.cfg).  When you install a panel, its normal to use all the files that came with it.  In this case, you don't do that.  The readme file that came with the F-16 says to use Eric Marciano's panel but NOT to use the panel.cfg with it-use the panel.cfg that came in the F-16.  When you installed the panel, you probably copied all of the panel files into the plane and overwrited the panel.cfg that you need.

What you need to do is get the original F-16 zip file you downloaded (hopefully you didn't delete it, if so you need to redownload it).  Simply copy the panel.cfg from the F-16's zip file.  Put it in the plane's panel folder and overwrite.  That should fix the problem.

Once again, I know thats a little hard to follow.  If you still find it hard to follow, let me know and I'll figure something else.   Smiley

Well, how about this-since its somewhat hard to explain.  If you could give me your e-mail address I'll send you the file you need.  I've noticed that your e-mail is hidden-so if you don't want to show it on the main board you can just e-mail me or PM me your address.

If you decided to e-mail me (so I can reply you the file), my e-mail is: RichieB31619@yahoo.com.
