Can anyone do or point me at a tutorial to add registration letters to my model?

I'm guessing it's a transparent texture painted on the side of the model but as I know absolutely zero about texturing (I've been lucky) an idiot's guide would be welcome.

Thanks.

I don't know any tutorials off hand but that's not to say there isn't one out there.

Basically create a polygon and apply a material to it. Be sure to name the material DECAL_NNUMBER. FS will use this material to show the NNumber of the aircraft.

This probably isn't much help to you but it's a start at least.

Not enough for me to go on.   ???
20 aircraft so far and I've yet to make a 'single polygon' in GMAX.  Dunno how TBH.

'fraid I need a step-by-step 'do this and then do this' type tutorial for this one.

FS2002, GMAX 1.1, and Painshop Pro 7.

Oh, and I'm very, very old.   Wink

That's a kind offer.   Smiley
If you could point me at any of these tutorials I'd be grateful as I would like to learn how to do this.

When looking for a tutorial, I have found that the FFDS site almost always has what I am looking for, whether painting, FSDS or Gmax.

I've visited that site a lot.   Smiley
I have also now seen the source for the FS9 Jenny which has half shown the way (I don't have the decal textures).

I am amazed at just how bad the model is.  Just goes to show how it is all done with textures!

I am gradually learning that you don't actually have to make all the nuts and bolts.   Cheesy
