I have a couple of good planes installed in fs2002 (ie.PC-6, C185) and everything works fine. When I install them in fs9,the flaps, control surfaces and lights don't work. Is there a way around this? Or maybe a patch?

Papallon,

Hi and welcome to SimV.

Unfortunately some planes that were useable in fs2002 will not work correctly in fs2004.  If you go back to the threads near the beginning of this fs2004 Forum.... you will find a LOT of discussion about this kind of stuff.

Aircraft that have the symptoms you describe are typically incompatible.  DId you get the "warning" when you installed them that said something like ..... "some aspects of this aircraft may be incompatible....do you want NOT to install the incompatible portions?"  If you said "yes" then there is a "flag" in your system for that plane that won't even TRY to display animated stuff like landing gear, flaps, and such.

If you did say "yes"... to give it one last try..... see the recent thread above this one that is titled "A-10 Warthog"....... it has instructions for the easy "fix" for the config file.

Planes for fs2004 pretty much have to be constructed with GMax or to Gmax specifications.

Hope this helps.

best,

....................john

I think you meant 'FS2004' John  Wink  Cheesy

FS2004 *generally* requires GMax or FSDS2 construction - it really depends on how complex the model is.

& remember John's tip - when installing older aircraft - ignore the warning. I have found several old models constructed with the original 'FSDS' (which is version 1.*) work just fine in FS2004 ....

Gentlemen, thank you very much! You are legends! I tried the '[FrameCallNoWarn]' tip and everything that 's supposed to work now does, and I've learned something new in the process. Once again...Many Thanks!
