I'm down to the final three things to complete my PC.

  • Monitor
    • CRT
    • At least 1600x1200
    • Silver/black color
    • Under $200
  • 50GB Hard Disk to serve as Master
  • Wrist pad (for my elbow when using the joystick for long periods of time)

The latter should be about $5 around anywhere, I found a Seagate Barracuda 50.1 GB for $45, but I'm still having great difficulty finding a good monitor due to my demands on it.

Many reviews I'm reading for monitors are discouraging.  Perhaps they're being given bad marks in comparison to LCDs, but all I know I haven't seen good remarks about monitors.  The monitor I'm using now (Trinitron that came with my Dell Dimension XPS T500) has yet to fail me, and all I'd change about it is the color and perhaps the size (16" viewable diagonal).  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here are my suggestions; they are all more or less within your specifications, I recommend the Samsung ones, the color and the image quality are great. I’ve being using Samsung monitor for a wile and if you use them correctly they will last at least 7 years, without problems (at least that’s the case for me).
I hope you can find the best monitor for your system Smiley

Well that's encouraging. Smiley My wild guesses have turned out to be edumacated guesses, as I've been eyeing Samsungs out for quite awhile. Grin Wink

I would have gotten a 17" inch, but since I wanted everything on the new PC to be better than the old one, I went for 19".

That's about all the encouragement I need, I think I shall go have a peek around all the local stores t'morrow. Grin Kiss

Danke schön guys.

I got a wicked 19" CRT.  Its a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930sb.  Not sure if its in your price range.  It has Diamondtron™ M² aperture grille technology.

- Active screen size 18 inch (457 cm)
- Grille pitch 0.24 mm
- 19 inch (48,2 cm) SuperBright DIAMONDTRON aperture grille CRT
- Optimum resolution 1280 x 1024 at 85 Hz
- Maximum Resolution 1920 x 1440 at 73Hz

Costs £230 over here in Uk so its gonna be at least $300 there.  IMO it has better IQ that my old TFT and you say you didnt like the colour, well this monitor comes with a function called 'Super Bright' modes.  These intensify the colours, ideal for gaming or watching DVD's.  Best monitor I have ever owend so far  Grin

This may sound really silly, but when My wrist and/or elbows start hurting... I use a sponge! 39 cents.

What do computers and air conditioners have in common?...
They both will work perfectly, until you open windows.
