Boeing and Sukhoi are working on a new regional jet. Sukhoi will do the building, Boeing the marketing...

KrasAir wants it to be tough enough to handle long routes in siberia, so it will probably have a nice and long service life in a more temperate climate.

Will this one stop the ERJ170?

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

Interesting, but will it ever replace the venerable An-2? Grin

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

More likely a Tu-134 replacement... but Boeing sees some RJ opportunities with it outside Russia. Lufthansa and Iberia have stated that they are interested too.

Yeah, nothing beats the good old An-2....

Putting Explosives into the Cylinders to get the Engine running and so on. Even cool are the huge exhaust Flames.

But all in all it΄s nice.

Cool that Boeing and Sukhoi work together. I hope the Aircraft will be good.

Was a bunch of articles in the latest edition of an aviation magazine I subscribe to.
Sounds interesting, partners also include Snecma in France, IBM and Dassualt, which have designed the Catia V5 system.

It is a platform used by many aircraft manufactorers (Boeing and Airbus to name a few) to design their planes, so the  "Russians" have a advantage by using a system that is up to par with the rest of the world. This is the first time any russian manufacturer uses the system.

Boeing apparantly will play a large role in the certification, marketing and design phases, contributing with a huge network in customer relations and maintenance capabilities.

Will be a good opponent to the Western built RJ's Smiley
