Well, I have been digging through the pics of cars that I have taken this year and have found a few more to post (since that seems to be a trend lately-and I love talking about cars
). So, here we go...
This first photo has a story behind it. Ever since I was a little kid I have loved classic cars-my father was a mechanic for a logging company and as a result I was surrounded by cars in my youth (he didn't work on nice cars but he was a car person and as a result was around nice ones a lot-and so was I). I grew up a big car person (into classic cars, not muscle cars). When I got into high school I met a kid named Andrew (known to his friends as "Shadow" which was his nickname). Shadow's dad was a muscle car enthuasist and so was Shadow. His father had a 1970 Dodge Charger 440 and one night when I was a junior Shadow took me for a ride in it and taught me what a fast car was (I instantly fell in love with his father's car and muscle cars in general). For a long time I was considering getting a Charger-but Camaro's were always my favorite so I bought a Camaro. But, this is the car that started my obsession with muscle cars. Here is his dad's 1970 Dodge Charger 440 (which is built to about 500hp)-this is a pic I took on Saturday (7/24/04):
This is a 1969 Dodge Super Bee 383, I took this pic at the Springfield Car Show on 7/17/04:
This is the most famous muscle car engine of them all...the 426 Hemi. The Hemi can be distinctively identified by the spark plug wires attaching to the plugs on top of the valve covers (the spark plugs are located in the center of the cylinder heads). The engine was in a 1965 Phymouth Belvedere. This photo was taken at the Eugene Mopar Show on 5/29/04:
Well, thats enough Mopar stuff. This is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 (I'm sure you all knew a Camaro was coming
). A very nice all original example of the greatest muscle car of them all. This photo was taken at the Springfield Car Show in 7/17/04:
This is the engine in that '69 Camaro Z-28. This is a DZ302 motor, the 302 was the only engine avilable with the Z-28 (from '67-'69) and the only GM car you could get it in. Plus, it was a much better engine than the Ford 302.
Finally, for all you Mustang fans-this is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with a 351. This photo was taken at the Springfield Car Show on 7/17/04.
Well, thats all for this time...maybe more to come. I hope you all enjoyed them.
