Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my current system to FS9, and I was wondering if it would stand up to it and get (fairly) decent frame rates.

The current specifications are:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
1GB PC2700 RAM
40GB Maxtor Fireball3
GeForce 4 MX 420

which are on an ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard.

If this system would be unable to cope with FS9, what would you recommend I upgrade to ensure maximum performance?

Thanks in advance.

if you have a high budget i would say upgrade it all. i hate to break it to ya but i would keep your hard drive from your specification there and thats about it.

you will get minimal performance from fs9 with that system and the majoy weak point being your graphics card.. it will run it alright just not with any great detail

for best value for money if you want maximum settings id recomend something along the lines of my setup in my signature i get 20 fps or more anywhere in fs9 will everything maxed out even the clouds.

my system is a year old now and becomeing obsolete so if you want an up to date system id suggest the following spec. bear in mind this would be pretty expensive but you failed to mention budget

AMD ahtlon 64 3200+
a gig of PC3200 or higher
Geforce 6800 ultra
and keep your hard drive if you can last with 40 gig you can always add another one to your system.

you would also need a new motherboard to support all those and your going to get other members who prefer pentium / Ati systems but i use AMD for its higher gaming capabilites and Nvidia because of reliability

hope this helps

By rule of thumb your system is barely acceptable to run FS9 (I know people that use less) but the video card has to go.

I say: get yourself a better Video card first, and if you have still some cash left watch around for a faster CPU.

Or this is what I would do in your shoes. Smiley

Thanks both of you for your advice. I will look into upgrading my computer, as I have been meaning to for some time now.
