I can only IMAGINE the framerate hit playing a dvd while playing the sim would cause.

sounds cool but i wouldn't pay money for it, and if i really wanted to watch TV wile i was simming i would hook one up to watch, plus it takes away from the sim experience

I suspect its for 'bling' factor.  People don't really NEED TV's in their steering wheels, but they get them installed anyway.
