Hey, i've never actually purchased a payware aircraft before, but recently i have seen many shots of the PMDG 737-600/700 and it looks.. increddible.

Anyway, im seriously considering buying this plane and just wanted your opinions - is it really worth the $40?

Apparently its the closest thing to flying you can get in a flight sim. People swear5 by it and say it has a steep learning curve, though if the manual is studied, you have yourself a winner!

if you buy the 600/700, then I really suggest going for the upgrade pack, which also includes the longer 800/900 variants. It is worth it  Smiley

well my system is:

P4 2ghz
512 ram
radeon 9600 with latest omega drivers

And i've applied all sorts of frame-rate boosters for the sim, which increasess my framrate by alot, and with the meljet 777, it averages about 18-20 around BUSY airports/high density citys like NY, and in the air it usually goes up to 30 (where its locked at)

As for the upgrade, i know this may be surprising but i prefer the short + stubby 600/700 version of the 737, are there any major cockpit upgrades? thats mainly what im interested in, as the default 737... leaves alot to be desired in way of simulating a real flight..

thanks, rich.

Yes, lots of updates, whole new panel bitmaps (goes for all models) +night lighting in the cockpit, 2 more MCP modes (vnav alt. intervention + speed intervention), many FMC bugs corrected aswell as new features

Compare the old and new cockpit lighting  Smiley

heh, thanks, definately going to look into buying this upgrade.

I've read lots of posts about 'stuttering' etc., will my machine cope with this bird? (specs above)

well it stutters a little on the ground with my machine, but it's not that bad. the Airbusses from PSS is worse for me Smiley

I have an Athlon 64 3200, 1024mb of  RAM, Radeon 9800XT, so I'm running the game with Antialiasing and Anistropic filtering activated, and that doesn't really help against stuttering  Grin

However I flew the PMDG on my old Athlon 2100 and it worked fine Smiley

Thanks for the quick reply!

I think i will purchase this beautiful bird, from what i've read about it, it seems the most detailed plane i've seen. If i do get bad performance, then ill simply have to upgrade the pc itself, i was thinking of adding more ram (atleast another 512) anyway.

Hey Donatrix!
Wait until you fly this. I don't even bother with all the other ones anymore!

That's funny. I purchases the other aircraft, the 737-900 last night because I can't get enough of this bird and have not received the link either and it has been over 12 hours!  ???

The best part about the updates with the 800/900 is that it seemlessly integrated the updates to the 600/700 as well!

I am one satisfied customer!  That plane has given me hours upon hours of enjoyment.  Money well spent.

The 800/900/update is $27.95.  Of course, you must have the 600/700 which is $39.95 therefore total damage is roughly $70.  It's a bit steep, but if you are like me, and the only plane you fly in the sim is the PMDG 737, it's well worth it.  Seriously, there is so much put into this aircaft that it turns FS9 into a whole new game/experience.

yeah its an incredible product but im not realy a fan of the 800/900 i like the 700 variant

i have a question...could the pmdg 737 be used in a virtual airline for people who have purchased it? im nt saying i will share the pmdg 737 to people who dont have it because that is wrong but for the people who have it ligit if i integrated it into my va with a new livery would this be ok to use? i myself see no case for missuse or copyright just wanted to check.

thanx daz

Yeah I'm not either, BUT...like I said before the 800/900 brings with it some incredible updates/upgrades that are also automatically integrated into the 600/700 you already have.  That alone makes the package somewhat worth it.  Not only that, it is nice to have somewhat of a variety.  New aircraft, airlines, features etc.  Keeps it somewhat interesting and allows you to mix it up with a slightly different aircraft but with all the same great features across the board.
