Dear All,

My old dad's an avid fan of a number of older British warplanes. The first one I'd like to ask the forum about is the Spitfire.

Which aircraft (preferably for free download!) is the best model, in term of realistic weathered appearance and also authentic flight model/cockpit in your opinions?

Thanks

I highly recommend going here http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage4.htm and getting atleast the first one and the tenth one.  Piut the sound.cfg and the sound files from the tenth one into the first one also.  It is absolutely amazing.  I recommend switching to outside view at some point in your flight and just listen to the engine sound.

Well Steve as people have named me here is some guidance. Paul Rebuffat CFS2 Spits, available at http://myzone59.ath.cx/accueil.php3 (telecharger is French for download).
Aeroplane Heaven has some divine Seafires built just for FS9. You have to join to download (its free), and they are gorgeous.
Over at Avsim.net you'll find the YAS Spitfires (CFS2 models), you'll have to join to download (its free), but they work nicely in FS9 as well.
There are also a couple of Paul Rebuffats Spitfires reworked for FS9 over at flightsim.com Tongue
And of course right here at SimV we have Spits available on pages http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage4.htm and http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage3.htm

Hope that keeps you busy Wink

Guys,

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'll check them all out.

(And once I'm done with that I'll be back asking your opinions on another classic.)

Thanks again
