I hope some one can help. My son recently purchased an XFX-MACH 4-KT400ANB motherboard and is using an AMD XP2400+ processor running Windows XP Pro. The reason for this purchase was that his earlier GIGABYTE MOBO, stopped working with his GeForce MX440 graphics card. The card worked fine in my computer, and so did his monitor, so we figured it must be the motherboard. The GeForce and an ATI both failed to work in either board, but works fine with other machines and with other monitors. We have switched monitors, we tried a new processor, a new power supply, we've switched cases, different OS, we even tried a third motherboard from Syntax, still no luck  We are unable to run any diagnostic software because we are unable to see the BIOS, we are not even sure we are booting up. We have checked and rechecked all of our connections, cleared the CMOS, and all seems to be fine, your suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried changing the RAM, also try and run it with one stick then introduce more if it begins to work.  Broken RAM can cause problems like you describe.

Hi-D:

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it this afternoon, I will need to strip the DDR out of my machine, and I still have a few other things I need my computer for.  Again thanks, will let you know if it works.

No problem, i hope you find the problem.

Hunters are my fav aircraft, i love the shape and the features on them.  Especially the "blue note" on some of them (the ones with gunports at the front).  Also the little flaps that drop down to let more air into the engine (located around the wing air-intakes).

The bios beeps one short beep if it's booting correctly.
The beep codes can tell you whats wrong.

Be ever so careful and try to slot the Video card into the AGP slot, just perfectly, if there is a slight mis-alignment, it could cause problems, RAM as well. The fine tolerances on the AGP slot make it too sensitive for position errors. Wipe the connector on the card with a clean cotton cloth and check it for damage, burn marks,  missing gold, or a short. You'll need a magnifier.
